I'm surprised no-one has mentioned can I get.

Another infuriating one for me is on the weekend.

A sign outside a Chinese restaurant here said "Complimentary crab with every order over 36 pounds"

You could imagine the little ****er sidling up on the table saying "You look beautiful".

Pedant alert: "Complimentary" is correct when meaning "free of charge".

It's possibly just about grammatically acceptable, but I hate the use of "ask" as a noun, as in the phrase "it's a big ask". That's probably in part because it's only ever a big ask, never a small ask or a tricky ask.

Putting an apostrophe in a plural.

Car's
Book's
Goal's

Terry Pratchett has a recurring character in his Discworld novels, a greengrocer. You could always tell when he was speaking because every s, wherever it occurred, was preceded by an apostrophe.

There is no full stop in the title of this thread.

Far more annoying than the above observation is people who call it a PERIOD.

Cuenca, whenever I see or hear an American refer to a full stop as a period, all I can think of is a bird on the jam rag.

You bunch of dirty bastards. :D

I put it down to 35 years+ in Texas..

at least that's my excuse....

(they have NO clue what a full stop is...well not in the literary sense....it's something that you do when you come to a 4-way stop on a roadway. and they don't always do that either !!!!!!!)

That's the one that grips me, it's an Americanism too far. It's only 3 letters FFS, how can they get such a short word so wrong? All those memes wrong, so sad.

Another one is when people say "literally" when they mean "actually"............
