Burglary what more can you do

Postby mumbles87 on Thu Mar 14, 2019 3:44 pm

My neighbour knocked this morning, He is a cabby. Lives alone. Works almost constantly. His house doesnt have an alarm, any cctv etc

Hes come home this morning and his house has been done over.. I said to him shall we look at the CCTV from my house as one of my cameras points on his drive and they took his car (that moves once a month) so must have something.

went back. back , back to look for when his car disappeared... 19:47 last night! blimey.. we were in! had a friend over aswell.

Can see 4 of them... yes 4! 2 get in the car and drive off and the other 2 walk away bold as brass

his back door glass is completely smashed (Can see it over the fence)

had another look they arrived at 19:25.. one of them.. straight down the shared drive.. 3 follow 2 mins later.

in and out in 20 minutes taking anything they could get plus his car

awful thing ..

wife was shocked we never heard anything but how would we notice? except for the smashed glass its just people next door.. he comes and goes so never know what noise is a bad one..

the window we didnt hear because around that time the washing machine is normally on.. so thats in the kitchen making its noise.. drowns out anything from that direction

can see why they picked his house.. no security , car never moves so they just prob waited for his cab to leave and then went for it.. but still not nice..

id advise anyone to get cctv and an alarm in this day and age! too much scum about

Be careful. Macaulay Culkin said the same thing and look what Michael Jackson did to him!

Allegedly.

Don't mean to be nasty, but if the bloke is never there but doesn't have an alarm, no cameras and windows at the back that are clearly easy to put through, did he expect never to get done over?

You're just around the corner to me too. Been meaning to put some cameras up myself. Even if they're dummy cameras.

Lots of car theft around my way at the moment. Mostly keyless cars as they can clone the signal so anyone with one of them get a wallet to put the key in that blocks the signal, and a steering lock.

I live in a rural area and come home at different times of the day. I often wonder what I’ll do if I pull in around the corner onto the bend to find 2/3 blokes leaving the house with there arms full of tvs and lap tops.

Hive security services of hornchurch put up my fantastic .. £700 I think I paid for 4 cameras

Sod dummy ones, yes they put people off but can’t replay things if you need to see something

I said this to the wife how don’t worry because he never there.. clearly easy target. We got x y and z in place etc etc

Dogs are the best security you can have for your house.

Am not sure what CCTV actually does apart from letting you replay people walking off with your stuff .
It's not going to help you catch them is it?

Would recommend an alarm. Don't even have to be that expensive. 3 or 400ish.
Front door, back door, room sensors.
Gives you great piece of mind when leaving the house empty/going on holiday. Seeing it from the outside might just make Mr Scumbag not bother, with your house. Cameras are another deterrent.
Also think that they might well twig dummy alarms & cameras.

Can get some pretty clear pictures off it of faces

Also puts people off knowing they can be seen

Most burglars these days will wear hoodies/balaclavas to disguise themselves.
Even if they dont, the likelihood of the police popping round to view your HD colour CCTV and identify anyone is virtually zero.
I get your point though, and am sure it does put some.people off, as does having some sort of alarm system.

Ive got 5 CCTV cameras and 2 large hounds.

I use the cameras to make sure the hounds are not eating the house or any of its legitimate occupants.

Seriously though, dogs are a great deterrent.

We have a dog aswell

However I doubt he would deter much.. he would just bark at them then lick their feet
