Of course, voting is nothing to do with them because they were never elected.

My point is that the lords has 100 Liberal peers, when they have never had near that representation in Parliment.

You can argue the Lords is a check and balance on society, but it should still represent that society in basic make up.

It does more than the Commons, the membership of which is highly skewed by FPTP.

It's all moot though, as my original point is that the Lords, in it's current guise, is not there to respect any vote but to study, debate and amend bills as required that are sent over by the Commons.

Of course the Commons has the power to over ride them...

What a brilliant idea.

I propose myself as the first atheist-anarcho-Green peer, who wouldn't want to ever even avoid, still less evade, a penny's tax.

So now we have to grovel to the French. And how do we grovel? By accepting more migrants.

Apparently the material needs to be studied to see if it is safe to lug it around.
Hopefully the ******g thing falls apart.

Apparently the Saxons were holding their own against the Normans at Hastings, until they broke the shield wall in pursuit of the Norman foot soldiers and were led into a trap.

Yes. The Normans had cavalry too. A bit unfair, bringing them on against a team that has played 2 battles in
3(?) days.

I thought the tapestry was debunked as a fake a few years ago. There's a scene where they're sitting round eating kebabs, which weren't introduced to Europe until centuries later.

Yeah, here we go:

But they will only be the 'children' like last time....you know the ones....three day stubble and fighting age with Doctorates in Engineering

Oh, not forgetting the ones who have an 'uncle' living in Dudley.

It's beyond a joke and illustrates just how much contempt our leaders have for us.

Bit of a strange loan though, "here you are, borrow this dish cloth commemorating the last time we beat you in a conflict".

On a different note, I thought we was bribing them £45 million to help keep our borders secure?

Also, not so well publicised, the RAF helping the French with a few Chinook to aid their operations in Mali.

No mention of the EU or Brexit, just us and the French having a chat, read into that what you will.......

Macron says 'special' UK deal possible
French President Emmanuel Macron has suggested the UK could get a special trade deal with the EU after Brexit.

But he warned that Britain would not have full access to the single market without accepting its rules.

Speaking to Andrew Marr, he warned - as Brussels has already done - that the UK could not "cherry-pick" the elements it liked.

A deal might fall somewhere between the single market and a trade agreement, he said.

So macaron proposes a 'bespoke trade deal' but;
- we have to accept freedom of movement
- we have to keep ultimate power with the European Court
- and we have to pay into the EU budget

I'm sure that's the kind of change people voting to leave wanted. :asleep:

Interesting that Macron says that if France had a referendum they'd have probably voted to leave the EU as well. That's probably why France will never get a referendum.
