Looks like the Democratic Party's "long shot" Conor Lamb has won in Pennsylvania by a few hundred votes. Evidently there's a couple of hundred absentee ballots to be counted, but Lamb's lead is 641. Donald Trump won here solidly and the Republican candidate was not only wrapped in Trump's cloak but had the Donald campaigning there on the weekend. Republicans in tighter seats might well be having a squeaky bum moment.

Special Counsel Robert Mueller subpoenas the Trump Organization. The investigation is getting closer to the Don.

McCabe fired now. It's going to get messy. (Messier, obviously.)

This "counter-narrative" being peddled by Trump and his cronies is based on such utter stupidity. This effort to subvert the independence of Department of Justice is truly alarming.

Then you have the totally separate Stormy Daniels matter, which is getting uglier and uglier but the importance of which pales in comparison to Russia investigation. Yet it holds to potential to be more embarrassing to Trump than his corrupt enterprises.

It's too bad we don't have the ability to have an early election here because if there was a vote today i think Trump wouldn't get about 35% vs. Biden. A quick look at the map and I'd guess a 163 shift in electoral votes, leaving maybe 143 for Trump. Two and half long brutal years to go...

Really have to question the thinking/motivation of rank & file Republicans. Trump doesn't agree with them philosophical, and based on special election results does little to ensure their political livelihood. So what's the point in aiding and abetting his efforts to undo the Constitution for his own person agenda?

Trump's top lawyer, John Dowd has gone now. Truly, this presidency is the grift that keeps on giving. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/22/us/p ... awyer.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I've only lived in the States for the last 21 years but, it does seem to me that there's a lot more idealogical purity among the supporters of the GOP. My otherwise completely normal Republican voting friends would vote for Ronald McDonald or Adolf Hitler rather than a Democrat.

I often wonder about blokes like John McCain. He seems in all senses of the word, an honourable man and I'd really like to ask him what he's doing in the same party as c**** and ****ing idiots like Trump, Pence and Cruz.

Trump's just announced that he's bringing John Bolton back to replace HR McMaster as NSA. I had hoped we'd never see him again in a high position of power. This is an angry, dangerous man.

I think what you're describing is party loyalty rather than ideological purity. To the extent that Trump has any ideology, it is very much at odds with traditional Republicanism. Then there is also his personal conduct, the morality (or lack thereof) is the antithesis of the "family values" they've used to claim the moral high ground.

At any rate, there are some pretty high profile NeverTrump Republicans, to whom the idea of this clown running the party is a total anathema. As for McCain and others who have served with great homor, having to deal with characters like Trump, there was an excellent column by Mark Shields back during the campaign: https://www.creators.com/read/mark-shie ... -of-heroes

You use the term 'party loyalty', and I can see your point, but surely blind loyalty is purely destructive. Of all damage the current administration is inflicting, the republican party is just another victim.
Anyhow,it seems we are at the beginning of a global trade war, hopefully it's effects on substantial elements of Trump's support will be felt before the end of his first term.

Well yes, what is happening now in US politics is purely destructive. Trump's personality-drive, morality-free, scorched earth governance in blender is leading to war of four fronts:

Global trade: The half-baked, ill-conceived approach has already cased the stock market to have it's worst week in over 2 years.

Classic war: In the next couple weeks Trump will have to deal with North Korea and Iran, He just hired a psycho-hawk as his national security adviser, as well as nominate a bellicose replacement for Secretary of State. None of these guys ever served. Can't wait to get kids killed. The exact type of war that candidate Trump swore he was against.

The Ladies: Karen McDougal gave a long TV interview last night. A judge ruled against Trump's effort to get a defamation suit against him by former Apprentice contestant Summer Servos tossed. And good old Stormy Daniels will be on TV Sunday night. Her attorney seems a cut well above the clowns that Trump has had carrying his water. Expect some stunt out of Trumpland Sunday afternoon to distract the public's attention.

The Special Counsel: Was revealed last week that Trump Organization was subpoenaed by OCS for all sorts of documents. Hypothesizing that they were served the week beforehand, that corresponds with the beginning of Trump's twitter tirades against the FBI and Mueller himself.

There's also all the assorted other scandals, really too numerous to mention, any of which would have been seen as worthy of two months of media hype. Now they get barely a sniff. It's more than enough to make your head spin.

US Politics - in order of priority

1 - Who ****ed which porn star/staffer/actress
2 - Who spent the most time playing golf
3 - Who can create the most fake news
4 - Who can deflect the most real news
5 - Who can delay/stop the operation of government most
6 - Who can insult their opposite number the most
7 - Who can play the race card pro-con the most often

999 - something about policies and looking after the american population

Does that sound about right ......

Can anyone explain precisely what Stormy Daniels' lawsuit is about?

It's fun, to see her cause trouble, because her claims demonstrate, if true, a certain hypocrisy in him, but is the claim as simple as 'I am not bound by an unsigned document'?
