I think it's worth considering we started out 4-4-2 against WBA and the movement tore us to pieces.

If you assume that defensively we aren't very stable regardless of our setup, then for me it's going with what's worked. With the three man midfield, we've enjoyed spells of possession we seemed simply incapable of doing all season. There is always a safety net with one midfielder dropping deep. We'll be playing against fullbacks that like to push on, and three up front will give us opportunities to play behind them.

It's a decision I don't envy, that's for sure. On the bright side, we've at least got a plan B and an option to change things that aren't working.

I don't think we will get any thing from this game, Liverpool in general don't even have to play well to beast us, they simply have to turn up, hope i'm wrong but I doubt it.

The point is we are a much better team with him, than without him. The midfield of Noble, Parker and Hitz is going to be the reason we stay up, if we manage it.
Avram will play 3 central midfielders with an attacking midfielder on one wing linking up with the front two i.e. Sears or Obinna. If Hitz dosen't play it will be Specs or Boa, they have both been decent this season but i'd much prefer the quality and experience of Hitz in there, even if it is only for an hour.

.

Exactly, Hitz for the first 60/70 mins will help us & him in a more positive way for his fitness levels & the results of our Games than Hitz for the final 30/20 mins will do..

He already played 3-4 games for an hour each, i'd think he is match fit to play 80 min without a problem.

Been told Gerrard won't play Sunday. Had an injection for his groin that puts him out for a week. Usually spot on information from the lad who told me.

On the TV over here last night (broadcasting from England) they said that he wouldn't be fit for European game tonight but were expecting him back for the game against us.
I hope not. (or if he is, start LBM and get him to wind him up until the horrible little **** gets himself sent off then swap Boa for Hitz. :raver: )

There is less difference in quality between the two sides than for many a year....

With all due respect, everytime we play Liverpool its supposed to be a great time to play them (injuries/hard game in Europe/striker that can't score) and it never quite turns out that way.

Grant need to tell them its a Cup game and see if that changes their outlook on things

Grant needs to remind them that the reason they have to pay so much tax (c. 8%) is because the supporters of that club prefer not to work for a living, opting instead for a lifetime on the receiving end of taxpayer-sponsored benefits. That ought to put the fire in their bellies come kick off.

Unfortunately he wasn't playing in the game earlier this season either and we still got walloped 3-0.

i'd like to see obinna thrashing johnson on the left, especially if they'll go for 3-5-2.
johnson being too busy losing obi1 to go forward too often. could be a key of the game.
snake could offer more covering, but against attacking minded full backs, going onto them instead of waiting takes 'em even more out of the game, i think.
is obinna fit?

and if gerrard plays, as many said i'd like to see the good old first minute kick that says 'these 90 minutes are gonna be sooooooo long'.
and a second minute kick.
and a third minute kick.

With our defence failing week in week out we need to play with a We can score more than you attitude! (and hopefully defend pretty well whilst doing so :? )
