In fact, if someone promised we'd beat LFC 4-0, like we did Man U (90 minutes of pressing and controlled aggression), I'd sacrifice my children on the altar and howl at the moon whilst stood naked in trafalgar square.

Dalglish has been playing 5-4-1 or 5-3-2. Suspect he’ll go for the latter.

Think we’ll stay with a 4-3-3 or 4-5-1 variant, the key thing is how we play it.

Our full backs need to get forward and our our wide AMs\forwards need to play with plenty of width while still trying to dominate the centre of midfield.
Stretch the three CBs, pin back the wing backs and hopefully one of our CMs will chip in with a goal.

Do feel that Boa or Barrera could play an important role at some point.

I did that when Zola in charge. Only got a 0-0 at Anfield.

Exactly....because those good sides have players who are able to play in that system, we haven't.

It's not about 4-4-2 , or 4-3-3, or 4-5-1 or 4-2-4 , it's about who is playing at centre back .

We won't score 3 against them , and I doubt we'll get 2 , so lets not let 1 in .

That is all .

i'm sorry, but why can't we score 3 against them?
i really hope the players won't step into the pitch thinking this.

we always played like we were scared against bigger teams this season, focusing on defense.
that didn't give us many good results, did it?

i don't care about formation or players. just go for it. play like you think you could actually get a result.

i'd rather lose the game 5 - 0 trying to play it than "defend" a 1 - 0 opponent lead for ninety minutes.
that would really piss me off
(who said arsenal?)

Some of you have mentioned playing three strikers. With our defence line-up, against a team like Pool, it would be madness

--------------------------Green
Jac---------Tomkins--------Reid-------Bridge
Sears-----Parker-------Hitzelsperger--O´neil
--------------Cole----------------Ba

Subs: Boffin, Faubert, MdC, Noble, Barrera, Piq, Obinna/Hines

Our CB pairing is so poor that I really can´t see us getting anything, but I´ve been wrong before. Noble on the bench is very harsh, but I think this team gives us the best chance to get a point or three.

To be fair, they have shipped 3 goals on four occasions this season .All 4 games were away, at Man City, Man Utd, Newcastle and Blackburn , but on average they ship around 2 goals per game away from home .

Now, if 12 of their shipped 21 goals came in 4 games that means the other 9 came in 7 games , so typically they ship a goal a game .

They are playing with a little more spirit now than they were 3 months ago as well .

I admire your optimism , but we went to Anfield believing we were going to score a hatful , and came away humiliated .

Personally, I'd keep it tight, and nick a goal .

Wont work pinky, we cant keep it tight, we are rubbish at it.

Best form of defence in this game is attack. Go for it, get the crowd behind us and anything is possible.
Time to do a Blackpool, its the only chance we have

If we set out to play like that - I'm sorry but we will lose because we cannot defend.

i thought you were the optimist here! XD

i'm not optimist, but if we play like we played with bigger teams this year, we're gonna get nothing.
keep it tight and nick a goal could work, if you play on counter attack.
but what we've been doing is park the bus and play the ball long to a lone man when we get it.
that will never work.

i'm not confident we'll score three, but we could (possibly conceding less than four...), and i hope players have that as a goal, not just try to hide in the corner hoping not to be found.

talking about stats, we could also say we have 25 points, they have 39, hence we're doomed.

we just have to play, and by play i mean control the ball, build some good chances keeping the ball on the ground, and not be scared.
it could end badly, bud i'd like to try.
they're far from exceptional anyway.

Is Gerrard playing?

I know that that other ****er in midfield has been scoring lots and ofcourse Joe Cole could make an unwelcome cameo.

Can't see us winning this, TBH

They have also just drew at Home to Wigan. They are beatable and being 18 times League Champions does not make a difference in this instance.

Pinky, you have watched us this season...you know yourself that if we set our stall out to defend and contain Liverpool it will backfire.

That's the reason we have to PROTECT our backline, and we ain't gonna do that by playing 3 forwards who ain't got the brains(& fitness levels) to track back and protect our full backs. (as a consequence it will protect our CB's as well as there won't come as many crosses into our box)
