Crystal Palace 2 v West Ham Utd 2 (01/10/11)Moderator: Gnome Re: Pub's for PalaceWas gonna get the train into Selhurst but judging by this i'll be at the Spoons off Norwood junction. Nice one!
Re: Pub's for PalaceDon't like drinking before football as it clouds ones judgement of the game .
On second thoughts, given what we are currently watching .............
Re: Pub's for Palace
Shocking isn't it?! You'll have to get proper pissed to commiserate going top of the league on Saturday night.
Re: Crystal Palace FC v West Ham United - match threadI don't care what formation we play, I want to see our players pass and move, win tackles, retain possession and support the man on the ball to give the man on the ball some options.
It really is that simple, how players can take the field as if they have never heard of these basics is beyond me Look at Ipswich in the first half the other night - I was too busy watching and admiring them give us the run-around to worry what formation they were playing. Because they were doing all the basics well. Time for a decent performance chaps - do that and the result will follow.
Re: Crystal Palace FC v West Ham United - match thread
Spot on mate; most of these have been playing the game since they were kids and it beggars belief at some of the excuses and bulls**t you hear when they can't string simple passing movements together.
Re: Crystal Palace FC v West Ham United - match thread-----------------------------Almunia
Faubert---------Faye------------Tomkins---------Stella ------------------------Noble---------Lansbury --------Bentley----------------Nolan------------Collison ----------------------------------Cole Subs: Boffin, Diop, Sears, Baldock, Carew If Demels fit, play him RB and move Faubert oufield on Bentleys expense.
Re: Crystal Palace FC v West Ham United - match threadPlay Demel and lets see him doing his Cafu impressions
Re: Crystal Palace FC v West Ham United - match thread
Think Collison is more of a Carrick type player - find a bit a space and spray the ball around - certainly don't think he's a tackler nor very defensive minded and doesn't offer a great deal in attack (compared to Lansbury).
Re: Pub's for Palacespoke to a palace mate, the victory club ok for away fans, its a pound to get in and the beer a bit cheaper.
cherrs all coyi
Re: Crystal Palace FC v West Ham United - match thread
I said a similar thing last week one of my old school mates a bit younger than me (was my brothers year at school) he didn't score but many considered him the best player on the pitch George Boyd. Back to the match thread we need to buck our ideas up as last Tuesdays game was a terrible performance.I would take a scrappy win but a draw is most likely imo.
Re: Pub's for Palace
There's no way I could watch us sober. Pub for 11.15 tomorrow should suitably take care of that.
Re: Crystal Palace FC v West Ham United - match threadIs Almunia 90% likely to start?
Re: Crystal Palace FC v West Ham United - match thread
I think that is an underestimation of Collison's ability, plus Lansbury hasn't offered a great deal of anything in the previous two home games.
Re: Crystal Palace FC v West Ham United - match threadWith the predicted hot weather tomorrow and a midfield already devoid of any pace, I have real concern that we will struggle with a 451/433 tomorrow. We really need ball players good enough to let the ball do the work and pass our way through Palace as opposed to hit and hope and blow out big forwards like Cole and Carew. I'd like Sam to persist with 2 up top for this one, play Baldock more centrally and closer to Cole so they can look to play off each other more. With Baldock the live wire up front, given the conditions, it could give us an edge in my view.
Re: Pubs for PalaceClifton Arms - anyone know if it takes away and what it's like?
Re: Pubs for PalaceRailway Tavern Thornton Heath is apparently an 'away pub'
Re: Pubs for Palace
Its tiny...and im not sure if they check tickets wouldn't bother
Re: Pubs for PalaceJust back from a pre-pre match drinking sesh with the Palace boys (a couple of which have been on this forum and laughed at pub suggestions).
Avoid all Wetherspoons. They will be rammed, especially the one opposite the station. Best suggestions are: 1. The Jolly Sailor 2. The Ship - especially with the beer garden 3. Conservative club. No trouble expected from any of the Palace lot especially after their encounter with Brighton last week. All thoroughly looking forward to the game and the banter whilst currently drinking to Robert Greens health. See ya there guys an' girlies
