I agree to disagree.

IMHO I think there are 10 better teams than us in the league - at least - so grading the top five good, the next 5 average, we easily fall into the below average category. Luckily for us there are another 5 teams that are bad, and that's why we won't go down.

BFS did wonders to get us up, had got us in a great position, but I think his (and the teams) shortcomings will be exposed later on in the season.

I have faith in WHU, but I also have a rational pragmatism that I have had from day one supporting this club - we are doing well, we have had some results but let's not get carried away. We are West Ham: feet on the ground realists: we know what we are.

Unlike some deluded north of London/England fans who are still living on past glories and espouse how they are going to with the Euro cup each season.

We will win nothing this season - but I believe we will stay up. That is our victory this season.

This..

We are 10th - 15th, probably 12th - 15th in truth, and that will be fantastic for this season..

All I ask is the defence keep it tight and don't gift them anything.

Looking hard into my crystal ball, but no matter hard I look I can't see anything other than a dismal defeat - at least 3-0.

I think we need a positive approach and formation from this one. No one expects us to get a point from this game. No one expects us to keep a clean sheet. Yet Man U have conceded goals this season and that's where we should try and attack them. We may lose this, just like we did against Spurs, but the differnce has to be our performance. At Spurs our team didn't even show up, against Man U we need to show fight, passion and determination on the pitch.

Who cares if it's the expected loss as long as we give them a game and ask a few questions on the pitch?
Carroll needs support, so I would make sure that Maiga is always near and around him as Man U's defenders have shown themselves to be vulnerable at times.

My formation:

Jussi
Demel-Collins-Reid-McCartney
Jarvis-Diame-Nolan-Taylor
Maiga-Carroll

Subs: Spiegel, Tomkins, Spence, O'Brien, O'Neil, Moncur, Cole

If red nose has any sense, and the PL titles suggest he does, he will play two from Young/Nani/Valencia on their wings.

We will need to do better at supporting our FB's this game to give us a chance.

Pretty horrible week of fixtures on paper and it has not started well....

The thing with me is that I can never forecast a West Ham defeat because that is like giving up before a ball is kicked . I may think that Tottenham will beat us or that Man Utd will take us to the cleaners , but I can never put it in writing . Those were my thoughts you just read .

Manchester United 0 West Ham United 1 [ Carroll ] .

Is Big Sam one of these that roll over for Fergie, genuine question as Steve Bruce and other members of the "club" use to.

Would be my line-up, although I'd go for O'Brien at the moment instead of Demel. Jarvis and Taylor on their natural flanks rather than cutting in and hopefully the odd bit of good service into Carroll.

Tough enough going there but doubly-difficult after Sunday; hopefully we can rally and put in a good performance.
