Re: Manchester United v West Ham United: Match Thread
Tell you one thing - we couldn't have a worse opponent on Saturday than Chelsea given the fact we're both under the magnifying glass at the minute to some extent.
I'll be hoping for two things on Saturday, equally - a win, and that come the final whistle we don't look (or have given any opportunity to make us look) like dicks.

Going by dreamteam ratings and match reports over recent years, pretty certain The Sun rarely send journalists to games

I'm told there were five of them (North West-based journos) in the press box last night who all claimed to hear the away fans singing it.

And yet no eye witnesses from amongst our own.
Maybe we should have a stenographer on the payroll?

What price are we actually paying though?Up the Junction wrote: The problem, Gary, is that media sources globally are now reporting that we were hissing at Spurs fans on Sunday because of these people (John Cross of the Mirror, I'm looking at you).
It's not as simple as just saying 'screw them' any more. We all pay the price - you, me, the club.
If anything this sort of behaviour by the press will install backs against the wall siege mentality by our fans, a much better idea in my opinion then sitting there worrying in case some lazy journalist wants to print whatever bull ****. he can think up in the free bar.
The day when we run scared of the press and sit on our hands is a day when we all may as well give up.
The press will print what they want no matter what, we may as well at least try and have a go back.

One life ban from Sunday (so far); scores of fans criminalised on Crimewatch; reduced allocations; potential sanctions by the FA; club's name tarnished...mushy wrote:What price are we actually paying though?

Absolute rubbish, really disappointing journalism, surprise surprise..Up the Junction wrote:According to a boxout in the Sun's match report this morning, this is what was sung at Old Trafford last night by a section of supporters in the away end.
Can anyone confirm/deny?
Edit: I'm looking for eye-witness accounts only - if you wish to discuss/comment, please use the match thread.
Think my Pal took some video footage of the" We are West Ham's Claret and Blue Army " second half session, do you want it UTJ ?
I was there for the record, with a 7 year old boy in tow too who sang his little heart out bless him and there is absolutely no way in the world that song was sung.
But then again, you didn't really need me to tell you that anyway did you ?

Re: Manchester United v West Ham United: Match Thread
UTJ - I was in the Stretford End last night and I thought our fans were in good voice. It was hard to make out exactly what was being chanted, but 'We are West Ham's Claret & Blue Army' did stand out. At no point did it sound like 'Racist C&B Army'.
For the record, the Man Utd fans were mostly singing songs aimed at Man City, Liverpool and Chelsea as well as expressing their love for Mark Clattenburg. The only chants aimed at us were about where we could stick our bubbles and one querying whether a certain fat, Geordie gypsy is a man or a woman.
From my perspective it was all good humoured and by no means racist.

Re: Manchester United v West Ham United: Match Thread
Whatever was sung , I thought that was one of the best displays from West Ham at Old Trafford for a while .
With a bit more luck we should have beaten them .
If it hadn't been for a flukey start to the game , I think the result could have been different , and I thought that they were there for the taking last night .
If Carroll's half volley had been a little lower , Nolan been a slightly bit quicker , Taylor had taken more time and had Maiga's shot towards the end gone a bit lower , we could have gone home the victors , instead of losing by one goal .
Well done West Ham , well done Sam Allardyce and well done to the travelling away fans , you all did us proud .
We've turned a big corner since Sam took over , and the performance last night at a place where a 3-0 defeat is taken for granted shows how far we've come , I really am very proud and I'm looking forward to a very successful season .

Wasn't sung at all.
Plenty of jokes in the away support about not raising hands!
Also we 'sssshhhhed' again but this time it wasn't deemed to be hissing.

From Sam's email today:
Our fans came out with some great songs and they were tremendous. They would be as disappointed as we are but we've come to Old Trafford and given it our best shot.

I guess that they clearly can't understand Cockney accents singing then on that basis, but that doesn't make them bad people..Up the Junction wrote:I'm told there were five of them (North West-based journos) in the press box last night who all claimed to hear the away fans singing it.
