Agree.
They don't score many home or away. We don't score many away, but think we now have more options available. We will create chances, take them and we win.

Yes, Nolan should be dropped occasionally, but not for this one. He's just bound to do the chicken dance against Sunderland once or twice...you know he will score against 'em, even though he may do not much else in the game...

Looking forward to making the short trip up on Saturday and looking forward to a similar result to the Newcastle game as Nolan is well overdue a goal.

Low scoring game - maybe a repeat of the 1-1 draw at Upton Park, with the same goalscorers.

Regardless what team Big Sam will send out, with strength in depth it'll be a good XI and a good bench:

Jussi
Demel-Collins-Reid-O'Brien
Jarvis-Diame-Noble-Nolan-J.Cole
Chamakh

Subs: Spiegel, Tomkins, Diarra, Collison, Vaz Te, Carroll, C.Cole

Not even on the bench: Potts, Spence, O'Neil, Taylor, Hall, Lee

Only four player in that eleven that started the play-off final! That seems like a pretty decent amount of reinforcing for the premiership in half a season.

Typical, looks like the temperatures will be tumbling before the end of the week. Mind it can’t be as cold as the last time we were at the Stadium of light don’t think I have ever been that cold in a ground.

They've looked much improved in recent weeks and they have a decent front 4. A point would be a solid outcome

I can't see us getting three unless Diame and Diarra start.

My prediction for this one is a bore draw (0-0 or 1-1) with Chamakh missing an absolute sitter towards the end of the game to deny us of all 3 points

I would start with Chamakh and release the weapon that is Carlton in the second half.

I notice Potts isn't in many starting line ups - fair enough. But I feel after that performance he deserves a chance, it sends out the right message to the rest of the squad.

--------------------Jussi----------------------
Demel------Reid-------Collins-----Potts
---------------Noble---Diarra-------------
J Cole------------Nolan-----------Jarvis
------------------Chamakh-----------------

Subs: Spiegel, Tomkins, O'Brien, Collison, Vaz Te, Cole, Wellington.

When Carroll and Diame come back for the cup game...who misses out of that squad...bearing in mind I haven't been able to fit in Taylor, who is my favourite left back at the club?

The squad is looking stronger by the minute. I have included Wellington - everything is done and dusted...I wonder whether we're having second thoughts as Vaz Te now wants to stay.

Indeed
It makes a nice change to have a dilemma about who to leave out, rather than who the hell is going to play on the wing, as it had been for much of december

I'd go:-
-------------Jussi
Demel-Reid-Tonks-JOB/Potts
---------Noble-Diarra
Collison--Nolan--J. Cole
------------Carlton

Subs:-Spiegal, Potts/Spence, Collins, O'Neill, Jarvis, Vaz Te, Chamakh

I'd rest Collins, with the FA cup replay in mind, as I'd be inclined to play Reid & Collins in that one, so give Tonks a go in this one alongside Reid
Would have to start Joe Cole, and feel that he really benefits from having a player on the opposite flank who really attacks the back post. So a toss up between Vaz Te & Jack, but I'll go for Jack, with RVT coming on if he tires. I get the feeling both those players will get plenty of chances if Joe Cole is on the opposite flank

Our recent form, when looked at in isolation, doesn't suggest this will be the most exciting game. But when you look at the options we now have, attack-wise especially, that may paint a slightly false picture. If we come flying out of the blocks I see no reason why we can't annihalate this lot, given the attacking options we now have...
So probably a dull 0-0 then!

Where's everyone drinking for this one?

Will be in Fitzgerald's near Sunderland Station. Apparently it get's busy on matchdays, doubt I'll see many Hammers in there!

A win would be very, very handy, and probably leave us sitting 9th at the close of the weekend with Stoke playing Chelsea and Swansea away to Everton after a midweek semi-final.

That would be a great base to head off to Old Trafford from

Jussi
Demel Reid Collins Potts
Noble Diarra
J.Cole Nolan Jarvis
Cole

Subs : Spiegel, Tomkins, Taylor, Vaz Te, Collison, Chamakh, O'Neill

Start with a more defensive minded approach ie. Diarra in the middle and bring Collison, Vaz Te and Chamakh on in the 2nd half to really attack them later on.
