Surely Arsenal should have made a clause in the contract insisiting Chamakh HAS to play.

A high line against Walcott will be suicidal.

I expect us to line up fairly defensive and Jarvis or Cole won't quite cut it as wing backs so I would like to see O'Brien and Taylor given a go with a back three of Demel Ried and Tomkins.

Diame, Noble and Joe Cole all deserve to keep their place.

Carlton Cole and Chamakh up top together.

We would have Jarvis, Nolan, Vaz Te, Collison, Diarra and Potts on the bench to give us ample options if we needed to change things around. Why the hell not give it a go?? Our away form is terrible and we need a fresh approach. This game is almost a shot to nothing and we have a nice big break after it so any result would be a bonus.

------------------------ Jussi ----------------------
------------ Demel Ried Tomkins -----------
O'Brien ---------------------------------- Taylor
------------------ Noble Diame ----------------
----------------------- Cole -----------------------
--------------- Cole Chamakh -----------------
Would still like to see us go with this formation, any news on Paulista?? Maybe throw him in and have Carroll on the bench as opposed to Diarra. Or am I clutching a little too much now?

Playing 5-3-2 against arsenal would be a death wish. Their game yesterday proved that they are vulnerable down the flanks as sagna and gibbs push on too quickly and are exposed on the counter attack. Playing 5-3-2 would leave us with no wing threat to exploit this. Also, it would gift them possession and invite them to attack us as we'd have less presence in midfield. Furthermore, we've only played the system once and the players didn't look comfortable with it - why risk it again.

I don't know why we would want to change from the tactics we used against Arsenal earlier in the season. We matched them and but for some poor finishing we could have taken something from the game. Play a 433/451, pack the midfield and don't give them time on the ball. I'd consider going with diarra ahead of nolan in order to add some solidity and allow noble and diame to push on a bit more. With a front three of Cole-Cole-Jarvis we could really cause them problems.

Allardyce will rotate the squad for this one according to the official website.

He could go 3-5-2 again.

I'd certainly expect 2 or 3 of the front 6 to be changed.

I don't see us scoring away from home. So we depend on not conceding.

That said a scoreless draw is about the best we could get from this matchup!

No way. Arsenal are on their knees and are a side who don't like it up em. We are a bunch of hard bastards. The home crowd will be on the players backs if we are level after half time. It's funny, I actually feel more confident about this one than I did Saturday's game

That's nonsense Trevor. 4-5-1 is suicide against Arsenal because they are better than us on a man for man basis. We need to work our socks off or have a tactical edge. Playing their system is playing into thier hands and pure folly imho. 3-5-2 suits the players we have but I doubt that we will go with it because BFS is so inflexible.

I predict that we will play 4-5-1.

That at least on one occasion, either Reid or Tomkins will have players peel off them to score.

I'd love it if we beat Arsenal playing any way but I sincerely doubt that it will happen.

Jaaskelainen

Tomkins Reid Demel

Taylor Noble J.Cole Diame Jarvis

C.Cole Wellington

Subs: Spiegel, O'Brien, Spence, Collison, Nolan, Carroll, Tomides

I'd like to see Taylor and Jarvis rotate wings during the match to confuse their markers, with Taylor dropping back a bit too help the defence.

IMO Vaz Te looks like he needs a bit of a rest judging by his recent performance, we need 3 central midfeilders to suffocate their defence, and three central defenders will help as Arsenal usually play through the middle more. Jarvis will tear Sagna/Jenkinson a new one.

1-0 Carlton Cole winner from a Jarvis cross.

I don't usually and rarely ever predict scores but for some unknown reason, i've got a gut feeling we might win this. For no particular reason or tactics or anything. It is beyond reason, particularly considering our away form and lack of goals.

Having watched Arsenal a few times recently and having watched all of our last several games, I would say that we are going to lose 4-0.

If it's suicidal than how come it worked well at UP? Our tactical edge is that we'll do them down the flanks given that their full backs don't actually like defending. If you play 5-3-2 (and it will be 5-3-2) we'll get torn to shreds every time sagna or gibbs overlap.

Really? My memory is of us competing well, both teams having periods of domination. The difference being the pace they had on the counter and better finishing.
