I certainly was. I often get collared by KUMBers at matches.Hampshire Hammer wrote:Were you in the BMU towards the east stand, I was going to say hello when I saw your shirt - then thought that would be a bit stalker like

Good end to the season. Great to finish as the second-best promoted team (Saints are the top promoted team, I read it on their forum when we played them).

Any links to the goals pls anyone ? gave up watching Match of Day years ago.
Re: West Ham v That relegated club in Berkshire match thread.
With the pressure of us I thought we played some decent stuff yesterday. Whilst GoN has done well, it was great to see Noble back yesterday. Fair play to Reading, they were all over us for the first 20 or so minutes of that second half (I'd take a punt on Le Fondre next season).
We've had a quality season, but to be honest I expected us to finish 10th-14th. Big Sam is an excellent manager and has made some decent signings for a newly promoted team. This next transfer window will be interesting. Onwards and upwards

Re: West Ham v That relegated club in Berkshire match thread.
Didn't get the time to post last night but all in all a fine finale to a fine season.
Got up there early in order to avoid the queue at Nathans for a hearty start to the day and then my eldest son spotted Julian Dicks outside the West Stand and he happily obliged to pose for a photo which made his day (my son's not Julian's)
The game itself wasn't the best but who cares, there was a great atmosphere yesterday with all four sides and corners doing their bit. At one stage there was a very loud rendition of "Over Land and Sea" which seemed like it was coming from the whole ground.
A good day was had by all. Now let's Get Carroll.

Sure,he does sterling work in and around the box..he is a natural striker...hasn't yet shown the ability to play as a wide midfielder at this level.

I met a KUMBer who it turns out stood behind me in the TBL for two years.

Yes this seems to have gone unnoticed. I can clearly remember Saints fans jizzing at the prospect of finishing above us as the 'top promoted team' and giving it the whole 'so glad we’re going to finish above them'. Think they were ahead of us for 5 minutes, bless em.

In fairness to them, we should be banned from the league because we can only play hoofball and Southampton are Barcelona and going for the Champions League spots.xmas01245 wrote: Yes this seems to have gone unnoticed. I bumped into Julian just outside the club store. Got my photo taken with him. Lovely bloke. I went into the club shop...must have been in there half an hour or so. In that time he'd only got as far as the other club shop door. Poor bloke couldn't move but didn't seem bothered at all. More than happy to stop and chat to people. Ironically a lot of there lot are tipping us to go down next year, our squad & manager is far superior to theirs. Think they're still a little irritated we finished in the top half and they only managed the bottom half.xmas01245 wrote: Yes this seems to have gone unnoticed. So was their second goal 2 yards offside in the end then or was it a brilliant ( non ) decision by the linesman ?

Totally agree Irving, and to think I was laughed at on here a few months ago by some (not you mate) for suggesting the same, Vaz is comfortable in the box or running at central defenders with the ball at his feet, he does run down some blind alleys when playing out wide, which makes him not so effective as a wider forward, and he does score highly at "switching off" during games, especially when we don't have the ball.irving boleyn wrote:

Both Miaga and Vaz are forwards in my book, not wingers, the problem we have is that Miaga, Vaz, Joe Cole and even Morrison all play Nolan's position, so to accommodate them we play them in the winger role, where they are actually more comfortable coming through the centre

Galey, Phil Parkes, Alan Taylor, Alan Devonshire, Keith Robson and George Parris were in the Supporters Club at around 8 o'clock. I'm sure Dicksy wasn't though as he would have been carried around on peoples shoulders

Some of the football we played yesterday was exquisite, the build up for both Vaz Tes goal and Nolans second was a absolute JOY to watch. Brilliant stuff West Ham.

All in all, a wonderfully enjoyable day. Even those first 15 minutes in the second half added that 'typical West Ham' element to the day. We could have won 6-0 and Reading looked very poor but it was entertaining throughout.

Erm ... we dominated (playing nice football) for an hour minimum and scored 4 goals ...... not the best at allChicken Run Supreme wrote:The game itself wasn't the best but who cares
