If Andy Carroll spends much more time in Belgium he'll qualify for their world cup squad .....

Sod yesterday's result. I'm retreating to my imaginary world where we beat them 7-0 to go top of the table. Other good news from my fantasy game was that Nolan broke his leg and is out for the season.
I'll keep you posted on more of my imaginary results as the season progresses.

Having broken my leg, I wouldn't wish that upon any of our players.richneal wrote:Sod yesterday's result. I'm retreating to my imaginary world where we beat them 7-0 to go top of the table. Other good news from my fantasy game was that Nolan broke his leg and is out for the season.
In fact, there are very few players I'd wish that upon. Snodgrass is one of them though.

That was a bit **** wasn't it..
My day was made a lot better by the bloke standing next to me (Graham) yesterday, he was one of the funny people that don't know they are funny, I'm guessing he was around 70.
Just before the silence he says.
"Oh no who's ****ing died now"
i explained that it was remembrance weekend and he said
"oh, quite a few then" His mate had his head in hands calling him a ****
I was properly bitting my lip during the silence, what bell end he was. kept shouting "Lets be avin you" ala Delia, which he thought was hilarious, but everyone was laughing at him not with him.
He was a right old card and made a very bad day very funny.

What's all this "head dropping" about....so many people using this hackneyed phrase.
We performed poorly yesterday but dont apply the ultimate put down of saying that our team gave up..
Its a too easy cliche...
Or has a new OPTA stat that measures this particular physiognomy been launched ?

Re: Norwich City Vs West ham Utd: Match Thread
Sticking my hands up and taking the blame for this.
Watched the game in an Irish Bar in Boston. Was super confident after a few Samuel Adams and the 1st half showing, I used my phone during the interval and responded to texts. My superstition is that I never look at or use the mobile for the duration of the game. Unlike our manager ...... I dont mind admitting when I've ****ed up.
Aside from that, Norwich are the worse team I've seen this season. They are proper ****.
Noble ran the game for the first 45, Rat had so much freedom down the left. We kept and moved the ball beautifully.
Jussi's been good this season, far better than last. He does like a parry though and he got caught out. As for the free kick, how many more times is this going to happen. Aint just bad luck ... was nailed they would score. Makes it so easy for the taker, the organisation of the wall, his positioning and reading of where its going to end up is quite frankly mickey mouse. 5 times this calendar year its happened, from the same area of the pitch ending up in the same corner of the onion bag.
As good a captain he maybe, Nolan is getting carried and accommodated too much. Yes hes a magnet to the ball in the box buts that seems to have disappeared over the last year. Personally felt that he went missing for a large part of last season and the hat-trick against Reading sort of skewed the facts in his favour after not being very prevalent after a good start. I like him, hes a good pro and player but shouldn't be undroppable or above being substituted.
Thoroughly enjoyed the first half display, the football was excellent. Mucho kudos to Collison, fine performance.
Collins 'mistake a game' syndrome appears to be creeping back in. When he surrenders possession so easily with a punt up field its heart breaking to watch.
Subs made too late with the wrong players taken off. Houghton made the necessary changes as expected and we never reacted.
We wont go down, its going to be difficult and we really need to dig in. We've got a competent manager and up until sat, the 8th meanest defence in Europe. Not normally a trait of relegated teams.
The whole striker situation is absurd and unfortunately the manager's doing as well as too many expensive error signings, I hope it doesn't result in the worse case scenario.

Watched the game in my local in Wimbledon and the guy standing next to me was clearly watching the game although all other screens in the bar were showing Wales rugby. I wondered whether he was another fan. After the penalty he asked me who our goalie was? I told him and he said he was cr*p. Not a fan then, I asked. No, I just bet £50 on West Ham at half time. I advised him never to bet on West Ham.

I got the impression if we'd had a Defoe type finisher we'd have been several goals to the good in the first half.

Serves him right for money grabbing, West Ham at half time would have been so short. He didn't think it was gamble, just a way of making an extra 20 quid or so.sxboy wrote:Watched the game in my local in Wimbledon and the guy standing next to me was clearly watching the game although all other screens in the bar were showing Wales rugby. This story has softened the blow of the defeat.

Re: Norwich City Vs West ham Utd: Match Thread
Rat had a good game, he had some great runs down the wing unfortunately we didn't have a striker who could tap the ball in.
Not sure what is going on with Jarvis but Downing has been a good acquisition. On paper those two should tear defenses up.
Collins did his usual hoof it up the field to an imaginary 6' 7" giant. We missed Winston, hopefully he isn't out for too long.
Jussi screwed up but has saved us many times in the past.
Unfortunately, even though I think he is a great captain Nolan should be dropped to make way for someone. Without AC his opportunities are limited and he isn't exactly going to win the ball back for you. The commentators said a few times how CC hasn't added anything since coming back but my goodness has he really had a good stretch to try? 15 minutes every other game isn't exactly ideal. Now, don't get me wrong CC isn't an AC but he at least has some height for when Downing or Rat whips one in. When he came on yesterday he at least tried to throw his weight around.
And like others have said I have never agreed with a manager who singles out a player. Just say errors cost us, it isn't good enough, as the manager I take responsibility, we will work on it and move along. However, for all the people saying Sam out - have you not seen the rotating door of the last few years? It makes no sense and if anyone can keep us up and hopefully improve it is Sam.
I said it before and I'll say it again - get Defoe in - if you worry more about the past calling him a Judas then you aren't a true fan. That was a long time ago, he hopefully has grown up and for the good of the team he might be the best option out there,

I thought Jack was very good too, more of a footballer than Diame, and that is why he's in the team. We played some very nice football in the first half, we were the only team, at any point in the match, that actually played football, shame we couldn't just carry it on.The Sherriff wrote:

The, 'Mistake a game,' syndrome has always been my issue with Collins, he just does stupid things, and you're spot on, it is heart breaking to watch when he starts punting it up field with no idea of just how much he's f**king things up, especially when we're chasing the game.

Without going into all the errors/performances/tactics/substitutions. I stand by what I said to the guy next to me when the whistle blew.
Only one team i've ever known could have been in the position we were in at half time having put in an astute tactical performance like we did and walked off the pitch 45 minutes having completely thrown the game away due to sheer incompetence. If Norwich had earned it I would say so,but they didn't we gifted them the game completely.
I'm still slightly staggered that an Allardyce side crumbled the way it did. If we conceeded early goals it is more expected, but to just evapourate the way we did was really the old West Ham way.
