Chelsea 0-0 West Ham Utd (29/01/14)
Another week, another loss looking likely, hopefully we might have made a signing by then but not looking likely.
Last time out: 0-3 (Lampard x2, Oscar x1)
Big Sam has said Demel, O'Brien and Vaz all potentially fit by this game, with Reid coming back to full training.
Players we will definitely be missing: Diame, Joe Cole, McCartney.
Chelsea will be without Torres and Van Ginkel.
I can't see anything but a devastating defeat here 3-1 to them is my prediction.
To end this on a slightly more positive note: " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Re: West Ham United vs Chelsea: Match Thread
Attempting to be more optimistic, I'm going with a 2-2 draw with Morrison with a goal and Carroll getting on the scoresheet for the first time this season. One can only hope, right?
Re: West Ham United vs Chelsea: Match Thread
"The bottom line is 22 points out of 16 matches makes you safe," Allardyce said. "The key element lies in taking points from those around us in the table, not expecting to go and beat Chelsea. José [Mourinho] has never lost a Premier League game in the entire time he has been there [at home], so it would be an exaggerated opinion to say we are going to go there and win. The key games are against the ones around us – and having key players back."

Re: West Ham United vs Chelsea: Match Thread
nothing like a Churchillian war cry to get the players and fans up for it!
Why doesn't he say 'It will be tough of course, Mourinho has never lost at home but records are there to be broken. We are certainly going to go there and give it a good go'
4-0 Chelsea, maybe 4-1

No surprising were as pathetic as we are with a motivator like that.
Anyway 5-0 Chelsea.

don't expect him to start shouting from the rooftops that we are going to win, just not accept defeat already. You could claim he is trying to lull them into a false sense of security, but our recent performances and results has already done that job.

Re: West Ham United vs Chelsea: Match Thread
A comfortable 2-0 for them but we put out a decent team that goes on to smash Swansea at the weekend

Re: West Ham United vs Chelsea: Match Thread
why would I complain about that?If he said we are going to go there to get 3 points you lot would be crucifying him
i am not asking him to say 'it will be a piss of piece, we will win easily' but at least send out the message that we may perhaps believe it could be a possibility and we will try to win

Re: West Ham United vs Chelsea: Match Thread
f*** all this doom and gloom, I'm really looking forward to this one.
I've got a good few mates who are Chelsea and they ginkcuf hate it when we're in town as our lot generally large it around the area - really winds 'em up.
Let's get right behind the side and see what happens - nobody gave us a prayer away twice at WHL, so stranger things have happened...

Why doesn't he state that we will go and fight, give it a go, try and cause an upset, try and get a point. He's basically writing the game off....doesn't give a very motivating message to the players or the fans.
Gonna go 4-1 chelsea, goal from carlton.

We'll lose this by two or three I reckon. Hope we come through unscathed.

but again, people have not answered the main question being asked...the pink palermo wrote:

Do you not think it would be more sensible or ideal to say something along the lines of 'It will be tough of course, Mourinho has never lost at home but records are there to be broken. We are certainly going to go there and give it a good go'
