I think we did okay in the 3-1 home league fixture last season. Gave it a good go, got back into the game. Their quality finished us off.
We have little for fear this season with an infinitely better sqaud. Noble and Kouyate likely to be back for this one as well.

Missed Noble hugely...Ok display against a team that will be relegated.
Re: West Ham United v Queens Park Rangers: match thread
With Downing and Song playing so well centrally, where would Noble fit in? Especially when Kouyate is fit again.
Good problems to have.

He also complained that the players were still getting used to playing together, yet we had 7 newbies and they had 4, not including Krancjar who was playing on loan there last season. Remi was also on loan to Newcastle last season so he can't complain about losing him.orbital wrote:I love the fact that Henry was complaining that his player's are not fit enough!!
Who's f*cking fault is that then you moron?
Not sure about the costs of the squad as we did spend a bit this year but over the last 3 years QPR seem to have spent a lot on average or over-the-hill players.

Indeed. Likewise Carroll and Nolan.Topbre_22 wrote:With Downing and Song playing so well centrally, where would Noble fit in? Especially when Kouyate is fit again.

Are we going to sacrifice pace and tempo to accommodate Carroll?
Re: West Ham United v Queens Park Rangers: match thread
When they're relegated by Christmas do you reckon we could pillage them early for Caulker and Mutch?

Mutch looked like he'd been dragged out of a soup kitchen.

Several of the rest looked like they had been on the special offers at Burger King .bubbles1966 wrote:Mutch looked like he'd been dragged out of a soup kitchen.
They're doomed .Guns for hire all over the place, none with any affinity with the club they play for , the fans that pay at the gate or even the city in which they work .

Re: West Ham United v Queens Park Rangers: match thread
There's almost a skeleton traditional Allardyce squad now that we appear to have outgrown - Jarvis, Carroll, Nolan, Collins and JoB. None of those have an obvious way back in.
Add Morrison and Vaz Te to that and, potentially, you're looking at a not insignificant addition to next season's transfer kitty through player sales for a change.

Re: West Ham United v Queens Park Rangers: match thread
Yes they are deluded but I can see why. If that Austin chance from the Zamora cross had gone in then it would have been a very different game. We weren't creating a load of chances and we weren't hogging possession. They have much more quality than, say, Burnley (which isn't saying much) but at the moment there is no pace and not a lot of fight.Romford wrote:http://www.wearetherangersboys.com/foru ... n-the-game" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

They're following the exact same strategy of two years ago and it's probably going to end the exact same way. And deservedly so. History repeats itself when people are too stupid to learn from their expensive mistakes.the pink palermo wrote:They're doomed .Guns for hire all over the place, none with any affinity with the club they play for , the fans that pay at the gate or even the city in which they work .

Retaining Song and Jenkinson would cost next year's transfer budget.

Re: West Ham United v Queens Park Rangers: match thread
Exactly. Converting loans into permanent signings can be a bit like being given cash in advance - it can lead to a speed bump when it's payment time. It's what happened to us with Carroll's second season with most of the kitty going on him, and it seems to be what's happening at Everton this season with Barry and Lukaku. We're going to need to add and not just consolidate - selling Carroll might be the type of hard decision that needs to be considered to allow us to do that

Or (and with one or two exceptions) we keep most of these very good players and have a squad the envy of at least half the league and the team isn't diminished even if we have two or three out.Aceface wrote:There's almost a skeleton traditional Allardyce squad now that we appear to have outgrown - Jarvis, Carroll, Nolan, Collins and JoB. If the pair of them cost more than £10 million in fees I'll be surprised.bubbles1966 wrote: Retaining Song and Jenkinson would cost next year's transfer budget.
Wages however...

£10 million for the pair would be as big a steal as Downing for £5-6 million.RM6 wrote: If the pair of them cost more than £10 million in fees I'll be surprised.

Was good to see Jenkinson raiding down the right for 90mins. Means we didnt have to waste a sub on Demel who always needs to come off at 60mins. Hopefully we can sign him on a permanent basis.

Re: West Ham United v Queens Park Rangers: match thread
There's an element of sunk costs theory that might come into play with Carroll and make the thought of selling him not be considered, which is understandable but I'm not sure how sound a basis that is though with such a long, expensive contract still to run.
Funnily enough, loaning him out for a year might be a good option if he doesn't get much game time this season - let someone else play him into form while covering his wages. I've still not got a real clue how good or bad he is...
