I know. But I''d give him a rest. Besides I'd keep him on the bench, if we need him.sutts07 wrote: Harsh on Downing??

Big 6 pointer this one, title potentially hinges on it. Fancy us to nick a draw and would be ecstatic with that.
Big Andy to bash Terry and Cahill up sounds just the ticket to me.

We missed Noble today as much as in any game he hasn't played. I think Song was getting caught out in situations where Nobes would have the ball usually.Puff Daddy wrote:I thought we looked a bit tired and battle weary today. What for me, was especially noticeable, was players being stationary when receiving the ball. It was enough to beat Leicester, but we will need to quicken that up against Chelsea and Arsenal
Re: Chelsea v West Ham United: Match Thread
Noble in for Nolan, Valencia in for Carroll, keep Carroll fresh to batter Arsenal 2 days later. anything from this game is a bonus, whereas Arsenal at home, we can really get all 3 points from that.

I can see John Terry swapping shirts with one of our boys so he can join in the celebration in front of the travelling support....

We're going to have play deeper for this one. A bit more counter-attacking and a bit less trying to control possession. Valencia's pace and Zarate's dribbling could be key for us, combined with Carroll's strength.
With our home game only two days later, I'd rest Song and Downing. Both are at their best when we can control possession and have a bit of time and space to unlock defences. Amalfitano is due a run out. I'd probably protect Cresswell for the Arsenal game too as he worked his arse off today.

Absolutely loving the optimism from everyone for this. Gonna take me a lot longer to get there than what it normally would but you know what? Bring on everyone, nothing to lose in this game.

They might settle for a draw, so we'll have to be patient breaking them down.
I expect Jose to park his 19th Century bus and bribe the ballboys.
It was the turn of our season last winter and Carroll played a blinder in defence. If this really is 1986 revisited, we'll win 4:0 and McSakho will get a brace.

Id go with
Adrian
Jenkinson Collins Reid Cresswell
Song Kouyate
Sakho Downing Valencia
Carroll
and what I want is long ball after long ball to Andy Carrolls head. Chelsea are **** under the long ball. Lets just pump it time and time again and have AC ****ing balls on to Valencia/Sakho out wide please

Why have I got the feeling sam & Jose will end up eyeball to eyeball at some point?

Might be different against terry and Cahill... they will love the battle... Sahko and Valencia pulling them about and running in behind them though... they won't like as much.
I expect to see Sam go with the same team from today and keep it as tight as we can for as long as we can.
The word unplayable gets thrown around too often but Carroll really is at times. Give him the ball in the right areas and there is nothing that can be done to stop him
Re: Chelsea v West Ham United: Match Thread
Massive hangover on the cards for this one,i mean me and not the team.
I'm going to be realistic and say the best we're going to get against the ruskies plaything is a point,i'd be very happy with that tbh but as they say "footballs a funny old game" so maybe big andy and sakho will rip terry and cahill a new one.
Shame we can't take the shed anymore, that was always a highlight of my youth despite the result.
Edit : Typo
