AC must be due an injury, so give him a rest while we have the players to do so.F.U.B.A.R. wrote:Not sure it's about not rating Carroll, it's more about how we play with him in the team..
We are very predictable with Carroll in the team..

I can't see any harm in having carroll and sahko playing for 60-70 minutes then change carroll for valencia.
We should be changing over carroll and valencia because it changes our style of play.

WBA away record:
Southampton D 0-0
Swansea L 0-3
Tottenham W 1-0 (Morrison)
Liverpool L 1-2 (Berahino - pen)
Leicester W 1-0 (own goal)
Chelsea L 0-2
Hull D 0-0
QPR L 2-3 (Lescott, Varela)
Stoke L 0-2
Couple of good results in there. 4 clean sheets kept but failed to score on five occasions.
If they let in one, they let in two.

Re: West Ham United v West Bromich Albion: Match Thread
Anyone who thinks this will be easy are deluded. Just because the managers gone won't mean much if anything it creates a siege mentality. We are trying to avoid three on the spin as well. We saw against Leicester that there are no easy games in the Prem and you only have to look at Burnley against Man Citeh to see that. Yes we should be beating these teams but only if we apply ourselves and shake off this uncanny knack we have of losing when we are expected to win. We need to develop a ruthless streak and the sooner the better. We have to shake off the old way that we could only raise our game when we were the underdogs and looking for a scalp.

Anichebe is doubtful, which is good news. Always seems to cause us problems.
Pocognoli, Morrison, Olsson - all starters are all out, as is Sessegnon.

That Spurs team they beat were awful at the time. Didn't realise the bad results West Brom have had, back to full strength and hopefully we'll put a few past them

I reckon they'll collapse like a pack of cards when faced with an all out attacking onslaught .

I wonder sometimes whether Sakho plays too close to Carroll.swerley wrote:If Sam insists on playing Sakho or Valencia with Carroll, then they need to stick near him and not play out as wingers. Carroll needs to stop tracking back so far during the attack.
They seem occasionally to be going for the same ball.

I think we play better as a team with Sakho/Valencia up top,It is also much easier on the eye.
Since Carroll has been introduced we have gone much more direct and I think we are more predictable.

Well done Coops,
At last someone who can put into proper words what it is I wanted to say.
Do you remember before the two defeats we were winning games but not playing that well. It was said that it was the sign of a good team to win when not playing at your best etc...
Well that's not quite right, it means you win games while playing poorly because you are playing the lower teams ( no disrespect to them ).
You keep playing that way against your Chelskies and Arsenals and you get caught.
IMO with Sakho / Valencia up top and the diamond midfield with Downing at the tip was the best formation.

We have put in some of the best performances I have ever witnessed with those 2 up top.
Look what we did to Liverpool, pure magic.

Agreed. Playing AC upfront has set us back 6 months IMO. There's a time and a place for the big man but not by default. Just as we were getting exciting it's back to the old ways.
Clearly Downing isn't as effective out wide as he is in the central position and Nolan can't run fast enough these days to support AC.
Think we will scrape this one but hope we don't go down to an early goal again, I haven't got any fingernails left!!!

Just packing our suitcases to fly out tomorrow. wife and youngest kids coming with me to WBA. Then after they leave back for Finland on the 6th its Everton, Swansea, and Hull for me. Mega dose of Irons!!
Like to see us getting a quick goal to settle things and can see us getting a few more then. 4-1!

As much as I would love a big victory, this game should be tough if the game up at the Hawthorns was anything to go by. In all honesty, I'm not quite sure how we managed to win that game.
That said, it is always better to go with the heart instead of the head. 4-0 to the Irons

Better hope that Noble is back to shield our back four, because if we leave it to Song or Kouyate.....
