Funny, we had some good spells and decent chances in the 4-1 that was never a 4-1 on the balance of play last year.

Bubbs it was very much a 4-1, if anything it was more than a 4-1.

Maiga missed an open goal at 2-1 which would have been one of the most undeserved equalisers in Premier League history.

I couldnt even type how elated i was. It really will go down as one of the best days of my life. Some people worry bout the olympic stadium not being the same. Yeah sure, it will never be the boleyn, but in time it will be our home and west ham will make it home. Oh my god im still shaking

Doc H Ball
If it was ward who it the bar in the 0-0 at Anfield that would have been 88, i seem to recall dicks also hitting the bar late in a 0-0 in 97,i may be wrong though.

Top post djbubbles.
One last thought on this game. Just before they equalised I said to my mate ' I would put someone on the post'. Let's face it we didn't have to look too far back for when Everton have punished us with expertly taken free kicks. We had a spare man at the time. It seems to me these days keepers are saying if your good enough to hit the top corners, go for it. Any thoughts if we should adopt this defence in the future, particularly if our opposition have a specialist free kick taker at their disposal.

It immediately negates the offside rule.

Don't agree, Bill.

Liverpool were crap for 40 or so minutes and Maiga had a great effort saved, and then completely failed to react to another golden chance from a cross - both at 0-0.

Then the soppy own goals and mistakes set in.

Even then at 2-1, they were on the ropes for a little while.

Great story djbubbles. I was on the verge of ordering a ticket and a flight but it just couldn't work out.

Which hotel did you stay in ?

I have 4 boys and I have converted a second one over to the Light - and the 18 yo is now thinking :scarfer: We had an incredible time watching the videostream and lapping up the madness of matchtime KUMB. But I will get over before the end of the season.

Paddy. We stayed in the Arinza hotel in Ilford. I wouldnt recommend to be honest. 4star was a glorified b&b. If i were to go again i would be looking for hotel around mile end station. It seemed the key station to everywhere on this trip.

Stay somewhere near Stratford or on the Island ('Canary Wharf') if you can. There are some ok 'chain' hotels at 3* and the Island will give you higher if you want it.

Mile End isn't hotel country.

Was Mullins the captain in the 2-1 win up there in 05/06?

Would normally have been Reo Coker, but can't remember if he was playing.

Decent area for pre and post game if you ask me. Some decent boozers round Tredegar Square. You got The Victoria on Grove Road and the Palm Tree, plus Victoria Park a mere 10 minutes away. Plus only 15 minutes on the train to Upton Park. Most be a half decent hotel somewhere near the station

He wasn't. I am sure it was on the box and Mullins was the skipper and lead the players towards the away end at the end of the game.
Cracking player was Hayden. Often overlooked these days given the Mullins/ Masvherano situation and the discussion that entails

Pubs and hotels are different matters though, and as he found Ilford not to his liking not sure Mile End will be more suitable. Depends on his budget of course.

Anyway, Mullins may well have been captain as it looks like Reo Coker didn't play

Edit
removed soccer base link as it defaults to this season :fsake:
