I haven't watched it again but the chance was right in front of us, he leapt as high as he could to touch it so would have done well to direct it and beat the keeper from where he was.JLCABA wrote:I , foolishly watched the game " in drink"
Was I very harsh thinking Jarvis should have scored with that "header "

Long balls are classified as 25m+...
Ridiculous really, should be a distinction between a Downing 50 yd cross field pass to Cresswell's feet and a hoof by Collins aimed at Carroll's head.

Bit of a random post here but Author Brian Williams just triggered off a thought i had and had noticed for a while. He branded the bar staff as being the "doziest" in his 50 years in attending games at the Boleyn. Not sure if they are around the ground but they sure are a bunch of window lickers down by the west stand lower. Mouths open like they're catching fly's.
Sorry rant over.

That's true, the accuracy (and difficulty) of any pass is vital, and should be included in any meaningful statistic. That sort of thing is the reason the old saying about: "Lies, damned lies, and statistics" came about. Statistics are all well and good IF used properly and IF understood properly. If NOT used properly they can prove any damn thing you want.

Long ball stats are a load of b*llocks, as are most statistics.
We have often played "long ball" far more often than stats suggest and Man United were definitely more long ball on Sunday than we were.
No amount of West Ham headed printouts will disprove that.
