Only thing I fear about appealing the red card is that the FA would have to admit their ref made a mistake. Let's be honest, they don't like to do that too often do they, regardless of common sense,

BUT
Adrian sent off - and if his appeal is unsuccessful that clown Jaaskelainen back in the team!
Carroll injured AGAIN!
And most tellingly, only one attempt on target all night.
Few weeks ago people was moaning he was in the team over the Sakho and Valencia partnership

Jussi is only in for 1 game. thats not a big deal, he is still a good keeper.. not great but solid enough

we have a mini injury crisis and still got 2 points off man united and southampton (away) pretty decent

Jussi is finished as a top flight GK and has been for a few years now.

Let's just hope the mistakes he makes on Saturday don't prove to be too costly.

I'd be very surprised if this was overturned. The FA don't like refereeing the game again.
This is the situation in a nutshell, the referee did not make an obvious mistake (as in sending off the wrong player, or handball when in fact the player didn't) in his view the offence warranted a red card; I can't see any way that it will be rescinded.

Clearly Adrian could have belted it upfield but the amount of back passes he received prompted there'd be a different thought process in him.
Our possession and passing were poor with effectively a 3 man midfield and they pressed us well. Not for the first time Song was caught napping and played a poor ball.
Definite sending off imo.

That's why he kept 11 clean sheets in 38 games during the 2012/13 campaign and 8 clean sheets in 24 games last season for our team.

We were attacking down the left with Jarvis and then with 3 back passes from within their half we had the Matador thinking he was Pele....

What bothered me was going from a place to attack to a place of danger...and we do it every game, all in the name of ball rentention. Then with usually go long from the keeper and give the ball back.

What im going around the houses saying is...stop going back to the keeper !!

Agree with every word of this.

In the first half Song and two others dicked about with the ball on the edge of our penalty area, almost teasing them to come and get it. They very nearly did and Adrian's emergency hoof came straight back at us.

He averaged over 2 goals per game conceded for Bolton in his last season and then got dropped because of it halfway through for Adam Bogdan too.

He's finished and has been for years.

Football fans have very short memories.

Let's take the claret and blue specs off please gents, it's a blatant red card.

The bloke is in one on one, Adrian dives on it with his arm.

You can argue it all you want, if it was the other way around you'd all be baying for blood if the keeper wasn't sent off.

Muggy team and muggy supporters. Can't stand them. Wish we could have snatched a winner in injury time, but seeing how wound up they are over a 0-0 is almost just as satisfying.

Daft , isn't it ?
Invariably the ball will go straight to the opposition from our goalkeeper , you may as well pass it to their keeper if you want to keep possession .

As people say: "It's all about opinions."

I've said what I think, so won't repeat myself. But just wanted to say that imagining the incident "the other way around" isn't the best way to think about it. When trying to be objective I think the best mind-set to have is that of a complete neutral - somebody who truly doesn't care about either side... as if it were... erm... a Scotty league 3 game or something...

The bloke wasn't 'in one on one'.

Adrian took it around him and then fell/was pushed on top of the ball.

Even if Adrian isn't fouled, the hand ball needn't result in a red card by the laws of the game.

But surely if Adrian was let off a red card for 'deliberate handball' it will mean every keeper will come out of his area and intentionally catch the ball to kill the game and take a yellow card changing the whole nature of the situation. Denying a 'potential' goal scoring situation.

Keepers generally come out to stop the man with the ball, his options are limited outside of the area so he takes a chance using his hands. I can see why he was sent off for falling on top of the ball and holding on to it outside the area.

The contact before that does make a difference, but I don't see how that can affect the red card as it wasn't given.

Bullyhammer, take West Ham out of the equation, I see a keeper in a tussle with a forward, possibly fouled who then falls on the ball outside the area and basically picks the ball up to kill the game.

Deliberate intentional handball. why did he do it? to stop the opposition player getting the ball. I can certainly see why a ref would give a red card.
