Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: Match Thread
Need to look at Dean's performance as well........Murray shouldn't even have lasted the first half.
Perhaps we need to start rolling around the floor screaming while the rest of our players start throwing their arms around in the air crowding the ref like other teams do on a constant basis.

I actually disagree about Murray. I think the ref was right to give him a final warning and it's something that I'd like to see more of. The Jedinak case is the one I think isn't getting enough attention and he should be given a 3 match ban.smuts wrote:Need to look at Dean's performance as well........Murray shouldn't even have lasted the first half.

Just looking at that picture ....it's just poor marking at a set piece ....and Sam needs to get the back 4 to tighten up

Can never understand why SA doesn't make changes sooner than he does (say at HT), rather than "giving it 10 mins" to see how we respond.
Has happened time and time again and normally coincides with us conceding another goal and then making changes. By this time it is normally too late.
Just an observation.

Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: Match Thread
Final warning? Is that before he got suckered into giving him a foul for his dive for the third?
Murray took the mickey on Saturday and for Pardew to come out with his comment that Reid made a lot of his final foul was unbelievable.
The knee high lunge into Kouyate could have been a straight red. I bet other teams would be immediately around the ref demanding a red for that.

Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: Match Thread
For me, if it was Carroll making them challenges I'd be annoyed if he were sent off after the second challenge. He rightly had to go after he took the mick in the second half but he shouldn't have gone in the first. I think the ref was right, the challenges wasn't malicious, they were I dunno, just fouls? (I don't know how to express that any better) I have no problem with them type of fouls being committed and a final warning being issued.
I also don't think Murray being sent off in the first half would've had any impact on the result, he may well have scored two but we just didn't turn up at all. Palace had plenty of options up front tactically to cope with his dismissal.

If I were a neutral watching the game and Murray was sent off for that trip i'd have probably turned the tele off. We made a Championship striker look like Diego Costa on Saturday, that wasn't the refs fault

Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: Match Thread
After he was cautioned there was a deliberate cynical, nasty little kick way after the ball was gone that was a cast iron caution - the only reason he wasn't cautioned (IMO) was because Dean knew it would be a second one. There was also at least one obvious dive. On those grounds it would be very hard to justify complaining if Dean had shown a second yellow. I agree it might not have changed the result but Murray should have gone before he scored the first goal.hammers92 wrote:For me, if it was Carroll making them challenges I'd be annoyed if he were sent off after the second challenge. Apols if a repost, but I didn't spot this earlier. Looks like Jedinak left one on Kouyate in the 1st half too.

But he let Murray off 3 times for diving after his final warning....hammers92 wrote:

It wasn't a foul in the first place...and Kouyate should have stopped the ball being the front man.smuts wrote:

Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: Match Thread
It wasn't just bad marking for that Murray 3rd goal, the cross was just fantastic, low and curling, and difficult to defend (especially if unprepared). Sam said they had prepared for set-pieces because Palace had scored 50% of their goals. But I suspect they were practicing for higher crosses rather than low pacy curling ones. Maybe its something we should learn from at set pieces because normally its high floaters which have no element of surprise. I'd like to see a bit of variety at set pieces, short ones, chips , fast pacy low ones, aim for a flick-on (ie. like Man U corners with Carrick near post flick-ons- have perfected). Maybe with Nene we will pose something different against Chelsea.
