Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: Match Thread
We've looked strong at home all season, and have only lost to 1 team below us. If we play anywhere near how we did againts spurs or united, we should have enough to beat them.
Will need to watch out for Gayle though, we seem to struggle againts quick poachers.
Hopefully see a decent amount of Nene aswell, would be lovely for him to come in and do a job ala Demba Ba for half a season.

West Ham 2-0 Crystal Palace. Wont be an easy game, just think we'll have to play a formation to slow their wingers down. Think he'll go with the 4-3-3:
Adrian
Jenko Tonks Reid Cresswell
Kouyate Nobes (C) Song
Downing Sakho Valencia.

Sheffield United? Were Arsenal below us when we lost?We_are_BML wrote:

I meant in general, I believe we are unbeaten in the league at home against teams that are currently below usWe_are_BML wrote:Who is the team that beat us at UP that is below us?

We lost our first three home games this season (incl Sheff Utd), but since the inclusion of Song, Sakho, Valencia, Jenkinson and sometimes Amalfitano, only Arsenal have beaten us.
That's one home defeat in twelve.
Looking at their excellent away form, a draw wouldn't be the greatest surprise.

It may be my memory playing tricks, but don't they generally do OK against us? I was going to be making the trip up from Plymouth for this but work has put a stop to that... Expect a massive score line and an Amazon game then!

Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: Match Thread
As other people have said, no reason to change the team from that which played against Spurs. The timing of this game is the only problem, in that it's surrounded by games we shouldn't expect to win, meaning that all the pressure is on getting three points in this game. If we start slowly, the crowd could get on the players and managers backs very quickly.
That being said, we've been superb at home this season for the most part, and even if we fall behind I'd be confident of a point at least. Sakho and Valencia should really frighten their defence.

The forecast says it will be pissing it down but I don't expect the temperature to be that high.simonpaulthomas wrote:It may be my memory playing tricks, but don't they generally do OK against us? Let's start this one on the front foot for once. Ok we've played a few big teams since Christmas, but nearly every game has started with 10/20 mins backs to the wall. Why?
Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: Match Thread
I am looking forward to this. London derby, they are super-charged under Pardew. Their style is typical first season Pardew, direct down the channels with flying wingers. Big day for our full backs. Hoping for a 2-1 but would put money on a 1-1.

I can't wait for this game.
I'm hoping for a good performance.
Sakho to score again and Valencia to get going again.

Yep, our full backs are going to need to be on it, which they have for the vast majority of the season.NW5hammer wrote:I am looking forward to this. London derby, they are super-charged under Pardew. Got the makings of a really good game this, I see us getting the 3 points and being safe from relegation for another season
Re: West Ham United v Crystal Palace: Match Thread
We've won 1 in 9... this will not be a walkover. Even if we're 2-0 in the late stages of the game... He might bring on another striker to change the shape. Pardon?
