Re: West Ham United v Stoke City: Match Thread.
As many have already said here. Our season is done already. What a shower of 2015 has been for us so far. And a bland performance against these lot is enivitable.

Stoke did alright at Chelsea and even our 'A' were a tad fortunate to get a 2-2 draw earlier in the season.
With the way things are going at the moment a 1-0 loss or worse is on the cards.
On the plus side a home match at 3.00pm on a Saturday will be very welcome.

Re: West Ham United v Stoke City: Match Thread.
Seriously, do you lot really support the team? "We are going to get tonked" ? Man City away maybe, but not Stoke at home, get tonked? Have a bit more faith.
Having said all that, in other threads, namely the Sam out thread, there's talk of this being our best squad for 20 years. Sure we have some decent players, yes we've had our share of good wins and performances where we should have picked up more points (Man Utd and Spurs home and away). But we are sitting in 9th, with 11 wins, 11 losses and 9 draws. We don't have any right to be any better than the likes of Villa, Sunderland, West Brom etc. The early run of form in the season got everyone's expectations up, including me, but in reality, we are exactly where we deserve to be, a solid mid-table team.
We aren't close to breaking into the top four, or even the top 6. Teams like Arsenal and Man Utd can spend silly money, like 42 million on Ozil and 60 million on Di Maria. We aren't in the same market until we get different owners, and maybe we won't go that route. So for now, be happy that we are sitting in 9th, enjoy the wins and don't get down when we lose a game. Again, we are 11 wins, and 11 losses, it's mid-table, but it's a big improvement from where we were under Uncle Avram.
Things have slowed down in 2015, but we really did overachieve earlier in the season. I don't know what the result will be on Saturday, but I highly doubt that there will be a tonking on either side.

Struggling to see anything than a huge morale boosting win for Sam's free flowing rip roaring super soaraway Irons .
If people want to know what ugly looks like , a good place to start is often a side managed by Hughes .

Seriously mate ~ When have Stoke tonked anybody ? Hughes plays a 4-2-3-1 formation. They have scored more than two goals in any league match just twice this season and average just one goal a game on the road. Tonked would suggest they will score three or more, in order to score three or more, they will need to create around half a dozen clear cut chances, which they won't. They will however, create one or two. This will be a dull, boring, cagey match of few chances, which will either be settled by a complete fluke, a dubious penalty, an own goal or a scruffy goal. I'm going stick with my original prediction of 0-1, courtesy of a glancing header resulting from a needlessly conceded free kick given away by you know who

I am desperate that we win this. I think with Valencia back, Sakho will pick shine. Whether Sam starts Valencia or not remains to be seen.

Once made it all the way from the Madejski to Woodford station without finding out the National result before someone shouted down the phone "Amberleigh House, GET INNN!"
I was on Amberleigh House so I didn't mind, but it was still gutting.
Andy Melville was absolutely atrocious that day and Pards subbed Harewood after 25 minutes. Rough game.

That's what I thought when we played Palace. Got done 1-3. Certainly didn't see that one coming.Puff Daddy wrote:Seriously mate ~ When have Stoke tonked anybody ?

I was at the reverse fixture, and it was everything West Ham don't do very often, coming back from 2 down and away from home.
So ever the optimist, I think the team will want to prove something after the shambles at Leicester - 2-0 to West Ham.
Anything else, we will have to all have paper clapper things, some bloke with a big drum and play loud music after each goal next year.

Stoke are very tough team to beat especially at home or away.
So I think a back five of Demel, Tonks, Ginge, Reid and O'Brien to counter their aerial attack.
Kouyote, Nolan and Cole to help with headers from their corners. Noble to break forward at speed with Downing and Jarvis wide to provide the crosses for err err.
Then bring on Nene in the 89th minute to see what he can do. Sorted

Flying over for this one, so I hope we go for it.
We have the players, we can beat them, I just hope we put in a performance and at least look like we want to win it. Not an easy game I agree, but they have lost their last 3 games and are away from home so boss them and get an early goal, i.e. do what we should have done last week according to Sam.
The hope is for a performance, expect no worse than a draw.
