Much better overall performance than of late. First half a bit boring but second half was pretty much end to end and entertaining, in my opinion. Keeping it positive, I thought a point against a side fighting relegation was welcome. Penalty aside, I thought we had the best two chances of the match and should have scored both. 1-2 and it’s a different story. We bloodied a new youth product for a full 90 minutes and he did pretty well thanks in no small part to having Collins and Nolan to support and encourage. I am liking Valencia more and more and looking forward to the coaching staff working with him over the summer and with a year Premiership experience behind him I believe he will be a real player for us next season. Main negative, with the exception of Kouyata or midfield looks in greatest need of ‘quality’ additions in the summer.

Said it at the time, Downing could have nicked that past Green if he hadn't sh\*t himself and jumped out the way.

Kouyate really should have buried his chance too.

When Greeno played for us I always felt that he was going to let in a free kick...and he usually did. Then he pulls off that worldy of a save yesterday! That's another reason to keep Cresswell, it's nice to have somebody who can take a bloody free kick. It always shocks me how few footballers actually can.

I think a lot of people are utterly fed up with reading page after page of negativity and angry entitlement when the team has just picked up a good away point and is aiming for its highest finish in 13 years!

What people are pissed off about is that in the first half of the season we saw what this squad of players is capable of ......given the right tactics and team selection ....which a lot would say was down to luck as Carroll & Nolan were injured and BFS went for the diamond formation.

We played attacking fluid football and reached the fantastic height of 4th pre Xmas.

But what we are angry about is BFS changing away from a winning attractive style of play .....and reverting back to the way we played for most of last season ....with similar results.

Yes a few players have lost form since Xmas ( notably Song & Downing) but collectively as a team the performances have been poor ...and that has to be down to the manager and how he sets the team up.

Just look at what Tim Sherwood has done to Villa .....by instilling a more positive style of play for them rather than the sterile style of Lambert.

We had a great chance pre-Xmas of making this a season to remember .....now I think we all just what to get it over with ...and hope we get a manager with more positive attitude ..that will get out of this squad ..what we have seen they are capable of.

Hurdled Sandro as well in the first half to avoid a whack which would have give us a pen.

He's got right on my tits since Christmas with his sulky attitude.

The reason match day threads are so short? Everything has already been said time and time again and people have had enough........

Indeed, why anyone would think that on a live, fluid match day thread you'd get anything other than immediate reaction based largely on emotion is beyond me. If people want an Oxford Union debate the match day thread is not that place.

I agree .Unfortunately, it is easier and lazier to be destructively negative than constructively positive.

And yet they've taken 4 points from their last 15, one less than us.

I think you need to look at their results since the beginning of March to get a comparison of relative form.
Look at who've they have played against the teams we have played

Villa's run of results since March 3rd

League

Villa 2 v 1 West Brom - 3 points
Sunderland 0 v 4 Villa - 6 points
Villa 0 v 1 Swansea - 6 points
Man U 3 v 1 Villa - 6 points
Villa 3 v 3 QPR - 7 points
Spurs 0 v 1 Villa - 10 points
Man C 3 v 2 Villa - 10 points

plus 2 cup wins
Villa 2 v 0 West Brom
Villa 2 v 1 Liverpool

West Ham in the same period.

West Ham 0 v 1 Chelsea - 0 points
Arsenal 3 v 0 West Ham - 0 points
West Ham 1 v 0 Sunderland - 3 points
Leicester 2 v 1 West Ham - 3 points
West Ham 1 v 1 Stoke - 4 points
Man City 2 v 0 West Ham - 4 points
QPR 0 V 0 West Ham - 5 points

So since March we have gained 5 points whereas Villa have gained 10 .....
whilst also making their way to an FA Cup Final

And currently you've got to say they are likely to stuff us at Villa Park on the 9th May

The kind of performance that says 'I'm off in the summer, mustnt get injured'. Played a ball forward (Noble?) and just stopped running. Even if hes pissed off at the board/allardyce scenario, where's the professionalism? He disgusted me yesterday.

To be honest he's always lacked bottle, it's the main reason he failed at Liverpool IMO.

Waste of time going yesterday! Knew it and still went.
Downing has been crap since dec and should have been dropped. Actually felt for Jarvis when he was subbed.
Nolan is dead wood and our tea lady would be a better option!
Enjoyed the passion of Adrian and am really liking the progress creswell is making week by week. His defending yesterday was excellent, he stopped most crosses!

One thing to note and unsure whether it makes a difference (but I suspect it did), was we lost AC on 13th Feb , while Benteke started scoring for AV (8 goals in the games mentioned above). If no Benteke then I suspect AV would have a lot less points.

But I doubt Carroll would have scored 8 goals either...
