I'm reading the thread from the last point of reading and I've just read this
Alan Pardew's Dad wrote:The mob were crying 'Sam out, he doesn't play the young players in the end of season games where it doesn't matter if we lose'

Sam plays young player, player makes mistake, we lose.

'Boo, Sam out, it's the results that count'
What type of fan are you? The lad's 18 years old, in what? his third/fourth premiership game and you're having a pop at him for todays loss.

If I wasn't going to cop a ban I'd call you a c***.

In fairness I think he was trying to say Sam couldn't win, not blaming Burke.

Burke wasn't picked to play in any case, he was dropped to the bench and came on when Collins got injured.

I would be very surprised if there was a single post on here blaming Allardyce for putting Burke on as sub so really not sure what that post was all about. All players make mistakes, not just young players and we've lost a shed load of games since Christmas without Burke being anywhere near the team.

I thought up till we scored, it had been one of our better perfomances of 2015, but from that moment on they picked up the tempo and grabbed the initiative. Shame, Downing's goal was well worked and good to see how much it meant to him.
I thought Noble was OK in the first half, not so in the second half. Carlton had a decent game and was good to see him get a standing ovation when he left the field. Kouyate was deservedly MOTM but tbf, not a lot of competition today.
From where we were sat in STBU, every time Everton broke as the came towards us, all you could see was acres of space for them to pretty much walk the ball into the penalty area unchallenged - they looked like they would score every time. Horrible feeling to lose so late in the game again, but we got we deserved today - fukall.

I may have misread it, then. If so, I wouldn't call him a ****, ban or not. :)

It's a bit difficult doing a 300 mile round trip, spending close to a ton, and being out of the house for 13 hours watching that ***** to come back on here and read posts like that without taking them the wrong way.

I'm not in the best of moods, as you can imagine.

Blimey Welsh Iron, I certainly wasn't having a pop at Burke. It's great to see a young Hammer doing well.

He's a kid and learning all the time from his recent first team experience.

Sounds like you had a long and expensive day, so not surprised you've taken my post the wrong way.

Lose to Everton? Check.

Osman scores? Check.

Lukaku scores? Check.

Last minute goal conceded? Check.

I knew all that before we started. Why the tuck did I bother going?

Wish I'd put a tenner on my prediction a few days ago but I hate betting against my own team. I thought SA would build a bit of backbone in the squad but its obvious we have a 'soft belly'.

1 goal we only score 1 goal !

We've only scored more than 1 goal, once in the last 16 games and we managed to draw that one by conceding late too.

Perhaps more disconcertingly, we've only won against Sunderland (who could still go down), Hull (who could still go down), and Burnley (who've been relegated) since December.

For about 70 minutes the performance was improved, I believe due to at last playing two forwards. Once Cole was taken off, and Nene wasn't playing as a true forward, we seemed to lose the will to score a second. Everton took the initiative, seemed to sense they could win it and the inevitable happened - again.

We looked half decent when Valencia was supporting Cole and Downing came inside. Trouble is that happened for about 5% of the game. For the rest of it it was the usual 4-5-1 with Vakencia and Downing hugging the flanks.
Watching Palace yesterday they had five players in the Liverpool box when Zaha scored. And that was away to Liverpool at one all with 30 minutes to go. The chances of an Allardyce team ever doing that are non-existent. W struggled to get three in the box at home to Everton. At one stage at 1-1 we had Song, noble and Kouyate all sitting in front of Burke and Reid, in our own half

Another performance in the style of ' the Allardyce way '.

And there lies the problem. With your two best scorers out for many of the games after Christmas, it's no real surprise we have struggled. Add to that the lack of consistent central defenders owing to injury and that means we can't score and we can't defend.
