Common sense says £2m is a massive massive stretch and if true then I want some of whatever Brady has been drinking.

Barcelona were paid $1.7m USD a few years ago to play at Hamburg. As others have said even a full house at £25 a ticket plus TV money doesn't cover it. The owners count every penny. No chance.

A £2m figure probably refers to some other bill...

Let's acknowledge the Boards commitment to having stiff opposition to ensure our squad is razor sharp for the opening weekend .

We cane them when they go cheap , so we really ought not to criticise them when they don't .

I'd have preferred different opponents , but that's life .A mid table Bundesliga side is probably the right level for our final warm up .

I must say though I prefer the two day mini tournament format other clubs appear in, it gives it a slightly more competitive edge .

I agree, providing any travelling doesn't take it too much out of you.

Have you seen much of Man City in pre-season?
Obviously I know their squad is 10x the value of ours, but they have looked snappy, competitive and razor sharp, as you put it.
I think them being in that Asia trophy has got them very well drilled.

No I haven't, they got thrashed the other day though didn't they .

I'm not advocating trotting around the globe but wasn't one of the attractions of the Athletics stadium - an iconic venue etcetc supposed to be we could host this sort of event .

Just imagine next summer

Millwall, Tottenham, Chelsea and ourselves in a mini tournament , the broken bones cup or something like that .

I was at all of those games.

Sunday was a snoozefest at best - the first time in years I have had to sit down at a game

Just using common sense. As has been stated above neither Real nor Barca charge such fees. So why would our cheap owners pay it to play an average German side?

That 2m fee must be wrong unless betway paid it.

What a joy it is being on here sometimes!

And thanks, Pop.

UtJ no one is saying that you haven't received a figure of 2m from whatever source you have.

What we are saying is that it makes probable sense that your source is either incorrect or more likely a 2m figure refers to some all inclusive cost of stewarding/catering/police/match fee for probably all the home games this season. Much more likely.
