Poyet impressed me on the pre season tour of new Zealand last year. Lots of potential.

Would love to see him kouyate and Obiang play together with poyet pulling the strings
A player like Poyet can make players like Kouyate, Obiang & Payet much more effective.
Kouyate seemed to trust him today, giving him the ball then rushing forward into more attacking positions. This happens often when Noble plays, but rarely when Nolan is in the team
Hopefully, Bilic is coming to understand this

Payet was definitely best in show, liked the way he was linking up with the likes of Samuelson and Sakho.

Thought Ogbonna looked OK, likewise Hendrie.

Their first goal came after a shot that Collins tried to clear and didn't, instead deflecting it past Randolph who I am assuming was covering it.

Second goal, oh my days not seen so much flapping since watching The Birds. Came for a corner/cross he was never going to reach in a million years. Don't think you can blame the defenders at all. Little about Randolph inspires in the games I have seen him in TBH. He needs to improve significantly to be worthy of a PL squad place.

Plenty of well oiled Hammers, had to laugh at the bunch of fat middle aged muppets trying to call out the Southend fans.

As part of a back three I don't see it would be too much of a problem but I really hope we don't play Collins and Ogbonna as a centre half pairing in a competitive match.

Both of Payets goals came from Samuelsen being willing to cut from outside or pick the ball up in the middle and run at defenders but look to lay the ball off. Good positive play

Phil Brown on Dimitri Payet’s performance: "I asked Slaven [Bilic] whether he was going to take him off, and make it more of an even game!"

The timing and quality of payet's through balls are sensational, Zarate really could learn a lot from watching him, I think the 2 of them could work very well together if Zarate gets a chance

Likewise Samuelson, they looked to work well together. Hopefully there's a gem in there too.

At last we have a player with a Mohican, now all we need is another with either a Phantom of the opera, or Zorro mask. You all know it makes sense

Love the look of Samuelsen.

He appears to me to be a very level headed, intelligent person that will leave him in good stead in his development.

The fact that he's pro-actively trying to make things happen in games is exciting.

The interesting thing with Samuelson, is how close he keeps the ball to his feet and how well he keeps it under control. Like the look of him.
