Re: Liverpool v West Ham United: Match Thread
It was my first time driving up there, normally take the train and I was surprised by the amount of coaches coming up the M1 from London full of people wearing Liverpool shirts, I must have counted at least 15....

My only regret is I only had £3 in my online account to stick on us to win at 9-1 Saturday morning, and so couldnt bet the tenner I planned to put on us.

A T shirt? The feeling is of a great relief, rather than triumphalism.
I wouldnt want to leave myself open to questions about what happened the previous 50 odd years.

Re: Liverpool v West Ham United: Match Thread
It was a very different crowd to the usual Anfield away lot. Seemed a lot less of the regulars than usual and the atmosphere from us was poor for much of the game despite leading at Anfield from the 4th minute!the pink palermo wrote: The atmosphere was great towards the end , but it's fair to say until we got our third few were totally confident we had it in the bag , and that's despite them only having had one shot on target and one that hit the post .At Anfield it's never in the bag until the final whistle blows .
Quite a few old timers seemed to have a bit of dust in their eyes at the end , it's fair to say we went loopy after Sakho's goal .
The potential the game was to be moved for the Europa League then the trains costing £90 put off a few (it did for many I know who are gutted now!). We had to drive in the end and stay up there.
I've only been going up there 10 or so years but understood the importance of this fixture so was in sheer disbelief at the end. Some around us seemed to get it, but many seemed that it was just a normal away win when it was far from it! Again, not the regular Anfield away crowd it seemed.
And cheers for the ticket TPP

Somehow don't think I've actually posted in this thread.
F*ck the scouse, and f*ck all the depraved southerners who went up there in their coachloads.
Somehow I think our next away victory up there will be a lot, LOT sooner than 2067. They and Spurs aren't frightening in the least atm.

Sorry but I had to bump this up again. I've hated Liverpool since I was a kid and they won everything in the late '70s/early '80s. The fact we've never won there in my lifetime (and I'm 52) has bugged me so much. Cheating us out of the 1981 League Cup and 2006 FA Cup, Shankly, Paisley, Dalglish, Rush, Lawrenson, Hansen, Stevie G and all the rest can now feck off.
This commentary is absolutely hilarious even after umpteen viewings. I haven't been able to stop watching it all week and have been sharing it with anyone I can. So just in case anyone hasn't seen it yet - enjoy it.

It certainly wasn't me , I was but a few months old on our previous victory there .Hampshire Hammer wrote: I didn't know pinky had kids, let alone grand children.
We were discussing on the way too and from the game whether we would have any supporters there who had been at the match in '63 and we couldn't identify anyone so it's great to here someone had made it to both games .

Re: Liverpool v West Ham United: Match Thread
This was my first ever trip to Anfield, I can't imagine what it's like for you older lot but my god did I celebrate. I had an operation on my knee 3 weeks ago meaning I couldn't attend the two homes games so this was my first game of the season. After the second I developed extra swelling on the knee from going ****** mental and on the third I was hopping up and down.
Best away game I've ever done, walk in expecting nothing and come out feeling on top of the world (limping)
