The brown bag ,stuffed with cash, gleefully accepted by that c*nt Dean, that enabled him to puzzlingly point to the floor, for each of our penalties, and every time one of our players got kicked to sh*t

When (nearly) everyone was fit at the start of the season, Noble started more often than not but rarely finished 90 minutes.

When everyone is fit, then 2 out of Song, Kayoute, Noble, and Obiang will be playing. Tough decision.

All season we've had a 'crisis' in our team, somewhere.

We played Arsenal with Oxford in midfield, and Maiga off the bench.

Then we had no wide players v leicester/bournemouth and got stuffed playing the same narrow midfield we played yesterday. Again, 'no forwards'.

By late September, we had no midfield - Obiang/Song.

Now, it's no flair players

Certain things seem to be developing into common characteristics though (though cause/correlate applies).

Tomkins at RB = no goals conceded.
Obiang at DM = tight defensive unit (he played at Liverpool/Man City)
Lanzini+Payet = good football (except watford).
Noble+Kouyate = midfield can't get the ball off a bottom six side.

Think I have mentioned it before somewhere - I'd be curious to see how Song and Obiang would work as a pairing.

That's an interesting one. I think what we gain there is roughly equal to what we lose in attack, given Tomkins' inability to offer support as per your trad full back (no goals scored either prior to Cresswell's).

Valencia written off then. Based mainly on playing out wide, which I don't think any of us really want him playing, and being a bit weak. Still offered more threat than Jelavic, and certainly the type of forward who will prosper with Lanzini and Payet in. Actually, Enner probably suffered most from not having Song playing, one who will look to thread balls in behind.

Balance is all wrong right now.

Enner does fine for Ecuador. Maybe the service he recieves is better.

Kouyate is 6'4", great engine as evidenced by his effort that hit the bar moments after he had started a move in the centre circle with a deft back heel moments before. Superb burst and pass for Antonio minutes earlier as well. Great player to have at set plays - both ends.

He can do things that no one else in our midfield can.

You may be right. You'll get plenty of resistence to that point of view though.

Their last five opponents were Venezuela, Uruguay, Bolivia, Argentina and Hondurus. I'd expect WHUFC to stick five or six past three of those.

Can he control the ball, can he pick a pass, can he make a pass ? Why does he appear so infrequently in the oppositions box ?

On current form? We'd lose all 5 of them. To be fair though, that's just recent oppononents, he's also scored against USA, Switzerland, Mexico, and the might of England. Also, to be fair, South American teams frequently play against other South American Teams and so the same argument could be made gainst many a world class striker.

He reminds me of Behrami... great engine, no positional sense.

Just watching the match again on Canal+ and there's no doubt that Hutton should have been sent off. He got a yellow for what used to be called a professional foul (pulling down Cresswell who was breaking away) when a red would not have been seen as unfair and then proceeded to spend the ret of the match lumping the cr@p out of Antonio with snidey digs everywhere he could. Too many of these refs appear to be far too easy on these so called Jock "hardmen" with the Payet James McCarthy incident a clear example of what happens when they don't get to grips with these tw@ts.

This being our only goal with him playing that role since mid-September. No goals, no assists - whereas Jenkinson has already grabbed a couple of goals.

Like I said - you gain some, you lose some.
