Aston Villa 1-1 West Ham Utd (26/12/15)
Seven now without a win but only two (league) defeats on the road so far this season. Meanwhile Villa are without a win since the opening day of the season.
Surely time to return to winning ways?

Re: Aston Villa v West Ham Utd: match thread
This has got Villa victory written all over it. They've actually played alright in periods of the last few games I've seen them. They do have pace and they do actually have a bit of defensive talent as well. They don't have a central midfield though and no consistent goal threat either. Regardless of that I reckon they win this.

Guess Valencia might almost be fit enough for a start here. Him, Antonio or Zarate look like the only ones capable of netting at the minute. All three are shoot-rather-than-pass merchants, so it could be another disjointed display overall. Which won't matter a jot as long as one of their speculators actually goes in this week.

Re: Aston Villa v West Ham Utd: match thread
I can't see where we can get a goal from if I'm being honest .
We barely worked the opposition keeper, again, yesterday , and failed to get sufficient numbers in to the box to make any threat .
I won't be happy with a draw against the leagues bottom side but we're not doing enough currently to see us get more than that .
I'd go 3-5-2 for this to try and get people forward in numbers .
---------------------------------------Adrian-------------------------------
---------------Tomkins------------Collins------Ogbonna--------------
Jenkinson-------Song----------Noble-----Obiang------Cresswell
------------------------------Valencia------Zarate------------------------

They say no game in the premiership is easy but this really should be a walk in the park if we want to finish top 10, 7 points after 17 games is an awful return.
Admittedly I haven't watched them since the 0-0 against City but that result flattered them, awful defending and if Sterling could finish they would have been 4 or 5 down by half time.
Get in behind them and whip fast balls into the box and they'll crumble.
3-0 win here.

How about this?ohsnap wrote:I like that lineup Bubbles - but I would personally put Antonio in there instead of Zarate!
Re: Aston Villa v West Ham Utd: match thread
As much he doesn't pass no where near as much as he should Zarate has to score, nobody else in the team can actually bar Noble from Pens, Valencia one goal every ten games, Zarate has to play only realistic goal threat

Re: Aston Villa v West Ham Utd: match thread
We need to get another attacking player into the side. If we can get Lanzini back in time for Villa then that would be a bonus. If not, I'd push Cresswell forward and go like this:-
------------------------------Adrian
Tomkins-----Collins------Ogbonna-----Jenkinson
-------------------Song---------Noble
Antonio----------------Zarate----------------Cresswell
---------------------------Carroll
------------------------------Adrian
Tomkins-----Collins------Ogbonna-----Jenkinson
-------------------Song---------Noble
Antonio----------------Zarate----------------Cresswell
---------------------------Carroll

Very true and a reason why the club probably needs to find the money for Austin and Remy (or similar)fmgod wrote:As much he doesn't pass no where near as much as he should Zarate has to score, nobody else in the team can actually bar Noble from Pens, Valencia one goal every ten games, Zarate has to play only realistic goal threat

Lanzini and Carroll will most likely be back, We have a solid defence. It probably wont be pretty but a 1-0 to us.

Re: Aston Villa v West Ham Utd: match thread
Definitely the line up that I hope for and am very optimistic that we could tear them apart especially if we come out of the blocks on top of our game from the start and can get that early goal.bubbles1966 wrote:How about this?

You know it doesn't work like that..Up the Junction wrote:Seven now without a win but only two (league) defeats on the road so far this season. Meanwhile Villa are without a win since the opening day of the season.

I'll get ready for the fallout after another draw... I personally won't be too disappointed.

Gotta be the most banker home win Villa will have this year. I'm sure they'll stay up thanks to us kick starting their season this week.
