West Ham Utd 2-1 Southampton (28/12/15)

Post by PrinceH »

Southampton-Arsenal 4-0.
In two days we'll meet and may be without Reid, Tomkins, Cresswell, Lanzini, Payet, Moses, Carroll and Sakho. I don't know if Jelavic is fit, but certainly, Valencia can't make another 90 minutes. Hardly Song either.,And Kouyate and Noble would need a rest.

Maybe we'll have luck instead?

Another team turns the corner just as we roll up to play them. We're **** out of luck aren't we? Would take another draw here tbh

Ignoring the fact injuries have near enough wiped out our attacking threat

We really need a win to shut the knicker wetters up, come on Slav

We do best when playing against the odds and I'm still optimistic that this result should have woken our squad up and hopefully they'll come out ready to all put in a super shift and we'll get a result. :crest:

Is it conceivable that we will be without Reid, Tomka, Cresswell, Lanzini, Moses, Payet, Carroll, Jelevic, and Sakho. Alongside a recovering Song and Valencia, and a visibly exhausted Noble and Kouyate?

Worst case scenario, and if all of the above is a reality..

My first visit to the Boleyn for two years, and possibly my last ever, Recent form, the injury list and 40 years of following West Ham give me no logical reason for optimism, but my romantic side (which only ever surfaces when I watch WHU) is dreaming of an unexpected victory. I don't care how, a 1-0 with an own goal rebounding off the goalkeeper's arse will do it for me. Maybe a hattrick from the returning Lanzini.

Anyway, whatever happens I'll probably cry at some point,

Again let's not kind ourselves even with a fully fit squad we have struggled at home more often than not this season and having seen Southampton's performance last night little suggests that tomorrow will be any different.

Hope I am wrong but I can't see us being a goal threat against Southampton and our best hope is another 0-0 draw.

Wouldn't be hugely surprised to see Cullen given minutes in this game - Noble and Kouyate aren't in great nick, and Song's only half-fit and has the eye injury to boot.

About the only position on the pitch which isn't completely decimated so can be rotated for the short turnaround is at RB, so Jenkinson will surely start. Can't see Tomkins having enough visibility in that puffed up shiner of his to play anyway.

This could be an ideal game to bring Oxford back into the fold. Remember this game is 48 hours after the last and presuming Song comes back in after not starting, Noble and Kouyate played 90 mins in that one. Some fresh legs in the midfield against an opposition that will run their socks off

Southampton will be tried after having less rest than us, they'll be over confident after thrashing Arsenal and we'll win 3-0

Agree with this, put Oxford in and let's see how he does  Hopefully Lanzini is fit and can at least get 60 mins out of him
