West Ham Utd 2-2 Manchester City (23/01/16)

Re: West Ham Utd vs Manchester City: match thread
Just as a comparison for fun, City brought on a sub they paid £49m for.
By my calculations, with no transfer fee for Adrian, Noble & Song, we paid £48.4m for the eight who played the majority of the game for us.
Proud of you West Ham.

The idiot in the Sun who gave the ref 8/10 is the same idiot who gave most of our players 6/10 and just gave Valencia and Payet 7/10 yet Aguero got 9/10 and the defenders at fault for our second goal also got 7/10.

Forgot to mention as well, great to see Reidy back, it was like he'd never been away. I've said this for the last few years, him and Collins are our best CB pairing. If Ogbonna could pick up that aggression he'd be awesome.

Has there been any mention of the mini riot at the end of the game between the away fans and the home fans to their right?
Watched for a few mins leaving the BML.
Looked fairly tasty at one point. Must have been about 50 V 50, fighting stewards etc.

Sat and watched it from the BML. My wife even recorded it. Mainly West Ham fans pulling back the thing covering the seats, getting within touching distance and neither set of fans brave enough / stupid enough to actually throw a punch or make physical contact. A few things thrown back and forth.Up the Junction wrote:Any more eye-witness accounts of this?
Man City fans spent most of it dancing and chanting.

No idea how it started, saw some aggro leaving the West Lower but looked like the stewards had it in hand. Ground was nearly empty so not many involved.

i was thinking the same thing. then my dad reminded me he wasn't much different before the injury...coyi27 wrote:I do think people are again overreacting about a player just recently back from injury.
wouldn't be the first time he ****'s up and then feigns injury either.Hugh Jargon II wrote:Dunno if it's already been mentioned but despite the knock I think hauling jenks off was tactical.
i don't think he's ****, and even if he was, wouldn't be the first **** footballer in a west ham shirt and has never been a problem for me.
but he clearly learnt a thing or two in the gooner school of play acting, that's what pisses me off about him.

Can't really add much more than what's been said.
Reid was immense & must make Pellegrini sick, watching him perform, then watching his incredibly expensive centre halves perform so averagely.
Antonio, who for me is the result of some bizarre genetic experiment between George Parris & Marlon Harewood, is continuing to impress. Payet a joy to watch.and Byram looks a real find.
A delightful game of football, lacking only the fairytale ending

Re: West Ham Utd vs Manchester City: match thread
I had a couple of run ins with some City fans on the way to the game yesterday.
Firstly when some old guy on the train took exception to a few very drunk City fans. They threatened him then got in his face asking what he was going to do about it. I told the guy who seemed to be their leader that if they didn't f*** off that myself and almost everyone around us would look after the old guy. They then made out that they were joking rather than being lairy shits and got off the train.
Next up a group of about half a dozen tried to take my chips off me as I was walking to the ground as apparently they 'hadn't eaten since breakfast'. This time, as I was on my own, loads of our lot told them to f*** off.
I've never had any issues when we've played Man City before and I hope this isn't a sign of things to come with them.

That had the last second header gone in, then we would have had some of the greatest scenes seen at Upton Park since the move to all seater.warp wrote:what do you mean? the weaker team snatched a point with ten minutes to go...
The place would have gone ballistic. We deserved all 3 points.

Cheers, although there was loads more stuff he done than that. The bit when he rolled it back, then forward again and then switched it with his left foot and drew the foul

You have a very valid point but I don't rate him when he is fit. Never have. Was amazed when Chelski bought him. No football brain and just plain lazy.arlhe wrote:A small word in defence of Moses.. like Carroll and Song it's going to take four or five games to get back in the swing of things.
