Manchester City were beaten for the first time in the league this season as West Ham United collected another big Barclays Premier League scalp with a stunning 2-1 win at the Etihad Stadium.
Slaven Bilic's team returned with three-point hauls from their opening two away matches at Arsenal and Liverpool and continued a remarkable run on their travels by halting City's 100% record in the league.
Victor Moses netted a sublime early opener and Diafra Sakho doubled the lead, as he did when West Ham beat the same opponents at the Boleyn Ground, last season.

Kevin De Bruyne marked his first start for City since his record signing with a fine finish on the stroke of half-time but there was no further way through for Manuel Pellegrini's men as West Ham goalkeeper Adrian and desperate defending repelled persistent second-half pressure. The victory moves West Ham up to second, three points behind their beaten opponents at the top.
Nicolas Otamendi made his full City debut alongside De Bruyne, while an injury to David Silva in the warm-up meant Jesus Navas was restored to the starting XI.

Adrian returned from suspension in goal as one of three changes for West Ham, with Pedro Obiang and Carl Jenkinson replacing Cheikhou Kouyate and Angelo Ogbonna.
The visiting keeper was forced into early action as Fernandinho met De Bruyne's right-wing corner with a powerful header but West Ham stunned the Etihad Stadium by taking a sixth-minute lead. Dimitri Payet fed Moses who advanced before unleashing a brilliant low drive into Joe Hart's bottom-left corner from 25 yards.
That was the first BPL goal City had conceded for 572 minutes and were almost gifted an instant response, Aaron Cresswell's header catching out Adrian, who had strayed from his area, but Sergio Aguero was unable to finish.

West Ham were not content to sit on their lead and it was 2-0 in the 31st minute, the hosts defending sluggishly as Obiang met a corner and Sakho scrambled in.
City might have entered the dressing room in further disarray but for a last-ditch challenge from Eliaquim Mangala which denied Sakho and they reduced the arrears in first-half stoppage time.
Aguero, who endured a frustrating 45 minutes in front of goal, set up De Bruyne to send a crisp, low strike beyond Adrian from the edge of the box.

Pellegrini made a defensive switch at the interval, with Martin Demichelis replacing Mangala, and Yaya Toure fired an early second-half warning in West Ham's direction by fizzing an angled shot narrowly wide.
Adrian reacted superbly as Winston Reid almost turned a Navas cross into his own net before Toure had a venomous strike blocked and a bustling run into the box curtailed by the goalkeeper.
On an increasingly rare West Ham foray forward, Sakho rounded Hart but could not finish, while Toure continued his one-man quest for an equaliser by blasting across the face of goal in the 65th minute.
A close-range stop from Navas's shot added to Adrian's work before Reid turned another Toure shot behind.
The Spanish goalkeeper saved his best moment until five minutes from time, a reaction stop to keep out an Otamendi header from De Bruyne's corner, and he led the celebrations at the whistle as City's club record run of 11 consecutive league wins came to an end.

Man City manager Manuel Pellegrini: "You need to score to win and we conceded two easy goals in the first half. After that we had lots of attempts but didn’t score. [On David Silva's pre-match injury] No, we have no excuse about that. We have other players to play. In the second half we played too fast.

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic: "We deserved it with the way we played and the way we fought in the second half, but we were under big pressure. They created a lot of chances and were the better team to be fair. If they equalised it would have also been deserved."

All I can say is that I have a bad feeling about this one....

The fact that we take till half time to start playing has probably not gone unnoticed amongst the rest of the premier league managers. I expect City to attack us with high intensity from the first minute.

Without a decent spearhead up top we will struggle. Saying that City only have 1 win away in something like 4 months IIRC.

Noble with instructions to press higher up the pitch and help keep possession whilst attacking. Also with instructions to play Payet, Moses, or Jelavic in where possible. Reid back into the side - he's our best defender after all. A £1000 fine for each player to go to the BMF each time the ball is worked from an attacking position back to Adrian to hoof. Song in on the off chance he can repeat last seasons performance against Man City.

Park the bus with the handbrake off.
They will be at us from the start so we hit them on the break.

Should know better, this team has done it once and CAN do it again.

However, due to injuries, City just getting back Aguero and Silva, I can't look past a 2/3-1 to them.

Anything out of this is a bonus IMO, not expecting anything.

I don't care who their front 6 are, as long as Kompany isn't playing I fancy us against this lot, without him at the back they struggle with organization and with our flowing attacking style we could carve this lot up at the back, if Sakho and Lanzini were fit I'd back us to win but as they're not I predict a draw.

As augero is back Collins needs a well earned rest. He is most effective against big strikers like benteke and alike. Against a nippy augero id like to see Reid return to partner ogbonna at the back.

I usually try not to change teams radically, but I think we should put the best footballers in the club to start with. Essentially that means dropping one or two players (for now) and stick with the best on paper.

---------------------------Adrian-------------------------

Jenkinson------Reid-----------Ogbonna-------Cresswell

-------------------Kouyate-------Song-----------------

Noble------------------------------------------------Moses

------------------------------Payet----------------------------

-----------------------------Jelevic--------------------------

Randolph, Tomkins, Collins, Antonio, Oxford, Valencia, Zarate.

As long as this is the formation/shape with players picked in the correct positions in terms of a defensive and an attacking sense, I'm OK with the selection whoever it is.

I'd probably go with Adrian and that same back 4 but then it has to be:

2 from Noble/Kouyate/Song/Obiang
3 from Antonio/Moses/Payet/Zarate/Valencia
1 from Jelavic/Valencia

If 3 are picked from the first group and 2 from the next, we will lose.

Time to drop Noble for this one, I think. It is will be difficult enough for us against this lot, without him making it doubly more difficult for us by him gifting them possession as well

Going to be a toughie. Will snap your hand off at a point. Agree Collins has to sit this one out and Reid to come in against Aguero. Also, I am torn between Tonks and Jenks at rb as Tomkins better defensively but Jenkinson's pace could be handy against their wide men. Need to start better - no room for mistake against this lot.

They're the best attacking team we've faced for about 2 months. Jenkinson shouldn't be anywhere near the XI.
