Says on that thread we stopped them from getting into Europe that year although it's news to me.How come they got the hump over the Tevez saga too?

I bumped into a number of Blackburn fans before and after the game. All were friendly, asked if we needed directions, wished us well for the future and wanted to hear what I thought about our "big new stadium". I was quite impressed with the niceties to be honest.

Re: Blackburn Rovers V West Ham United Match thread
Not long back from another great weekender.
Met with a number of people in The Anchor and found the locals all very friendly, especially as their town had just been invaded.
Great to see so many faces in the crowd. These large allocations allow a mass gathering of our northern clans.
As for the game, I'm sure it's all been said on here but there was sheer joy at seeing the likes of Noble, Payet and Lanzini running rings around Lancashire. The last goal was a moment of bliss, a real coup de grace.
Afterwards, we hung around town for a bit and again had a friendly drink. You can understand the despondency amongst their support - great history, decimation of local industry, deseased benefactor, fighting relegation and hoardes of piss taking cockneys - but they were all fine with us.
This is already then best season for donkeys and just seems to be getting better and better

The bbc commentary around payet's free kick has made me smile so much over the 15 times I've watched it:
"It's in, he's done it again" - downplayed brilliantly as though it was absolutely inevitable (I know he probably recorded it again after the event)
Also love the comment someone made about ginger pele's reaction - spot on, absolute nonchalance this time.

Watched in a pub in Germany on a stag do....was a good stag do but this game was the best bit
Love Ginge's reaction as Payets free kick flies over his head - he simply turned away as he seemed to know it was in

A few people giving the locals a bit of bad press. I'm assuming that their websites are much like ours after a loss. bitter and /twisted.
Anyone who actually stopped and talked to any of them should have been pleasantly surprised. I had a number of chats and they were very friendly. Decent working class people, whose team is properly in the brown stuff. And they wished us well.
As for the youth in the stand to our left, some great banter, poor lad with a jedward haircut took most of the stick, and I'll bet he's got a number 2 crop all over by now!
On the way out, many of them applauded and waved in a non-aggressive manner.
how it should be these days to be honest.

Here's a little video compiled by my son (who was Trevor Morley's Breadknife, for those who remember). Sorry about the advert but it's worth waiting for.

Locals all seemed friendly to me too.
Blonde barmaid at The Golden Cup was up for a bit of banter, was well pissed.

Wigan-Millwall. Got to be the worst final in FA Cup history.frankiemac wrote:..i still cant believe i live in a world where wigan has won it....
Saying that Portsmouth won it one year (albeit quite a tidy squad at the time with a few of our rejects).
Cardiff got to the final not long ago as well.
