FAC5: Blackburn Rovers 1-5 West Ham Utd (21/02/16)

Post by cockney farmer »

So after a 7 day break a refreshed squad can look to prove our ambition in this competition . It should be our priority and the strongest possible 11 selected , my choice against a poor championship side would be an adventurous one and an attacking line up .

Right back is a problem position for us but I would take an experienced hard working Antonio v youth .

From an attacking point of view the bench should be bolstered by Lanzini and possibly Sakho

Adrian (suspect he will stick with Randolph though)

Cressswell
Collins
Ogbonna
Antonio

Kouyate
Noble
Song

Carroll
Payet
Valencia

Play Payet in the middle, Moses ahead of Antonio on the right and Carroll up top. That'll be enough

They had less than 14000 yesterday and Hull must have. Taken a couple of thousand , they also have a league game Tuesday home to Fulham , 5 points off the relegation zone their priorities may lay elsewhere , where's everyone drinking Blackburn mate said Fenhurst no longer away pub.

From Blackburn forum ...

Meet the new President of USA !!

If they sell 7400 i'll be amazed, if they turn up in home areas in their dozens then i'll be the next elected President of the USA. It isn't happening.

Before yesterday's game Blackburn had only sold 3000 tickets - after another loss can't imagine they were queuing up for tickets !

Doesn't really surprise me tbh, For some clubs, ours is one of them, the domestic cups are something the fans look forward to. But I think it was last season when Blackburn played Man City, almost a local derby, and the highlights showed rows of empty seats. Cup games are not high on the agenda in the priorities of many fans.

--------------------Randolf

Antonio----Collins---Ogbonna--Cresswell

--------------Obaing---Kouyate

Valencia------------Payet----------Moses

--------------------Carroll

Nothing less than this team please! noble in the middle if ness but think we can see off blackburn without him

Randolf has done enough to carry on in the cup for me.

Antonio to fill in at right back did well there last week..

should be enough to give blackburn a few nightmares

A bloke a couple of rows back from me in the TBU has given Wiley the moniker 'Happy Feet' which always raises a smile....

With the exception of goalkeeper I'd play our strongest possible side, to do otherwise disrespects the competition and our opponents .It cheats supporters who have made the trip and devalues the event .

---------------------------===-Randolph-----------------------

Antonio--------Collins-------------- Ogbonna------- Cresswell.

--------------------------------------Noble-----------------------------

Valencia---------------Payet-----------Kouyate-----------Moses

------------------------------------Carroll---------------------------

Bench - Adrian,Song,Oxford,Parfitt-williams,

Long trip up to Blackburn for me. I would play a strong side, with Randolph in and give Oxford a start at CDM instead of Song.
Randolph
Antonio Ogbonna Collins Cress
Oxford Noble
Valencia Payet Moses
Carroll

Decent away pub?

Ideal result here is a draw :o (unless Spurs draw with Palace)

Take them back to ours and win the replay, whilst putting the Spurs league game off until we have a fully fit team to pick from.

Can Emenike definitely not play in this game? Otherwise I would pick him for this game. It might help his confiedence if he can get a goal or 2. Plus it'll help with match fitness. We don't know how bad Valencia is after yesterday's game too. That's something we have to bear in mind.

I'd go with:

-----------------------------------Randolph---------------------------------

---Antonio----------Collins-----------------Ogbonna------Cresswell---

-----------------------Noble------------------Obiang-------------------------

------------------------------------Payet---------------------------------------

---Moses-----------------------Carroll------------------------Emenike---

Subs: Adrian, Oxford, Kouyate, Song, Lanzini, Valencia, Parfitt-Williams.

I think Emenike is eligible for this one - only last game he wasn't as he wasn't registered for the first round.

I know Noble has been in impressive form the last few games, but putting him in the starting line up and on the bench may stretch him a bit!

Unless we play "the false 10" and only actually bring him on if needed.
