West Ham Utd 1-0 Sunderland (27/02/16)

Post by Lee_WHU »

Should be a tasty one with Big Sam back and expectations high following our 5-1 win at Blackburn. Can't wait to be honest!

------------------------- Adrian -------------------------
Byram ----- Collins ----- Ogbonna --- Cresswell
-------------------------------------------------------------
------------------ Song ----- Noble ---------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------
-------- Antonio ----- Payet ------- Lanzini ---------
-------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------- Emenike -------------------------

Harsh on Moses but someone has to be dropped for Lanzini and I don't think we should persist with Antonio at RB against Premier League opposition.

Watch out for another hatchet job on Payet, can just see our old friend sending Cattermole out with certain instructions

Was thinking exactly the same regarding Payet...and today convinced me that we need to see more of Antonio at right-back...

Sadly I might only be able to watch the first half on my mobile as I'm getting married at 13:30! Bit gutted as I would love us to wipe the floor with Sunderland whilst playing attractive football - not to dig out Big Sam but to shut up Souness even further! I'd probably line up like this

------------------------- Adrian -------------------------
Byram ----- Collins ----- Ogbonna --- Cresswell
-------------------------------------------------------------
------------------ Obiang ----- Noble ---------------------
-------------------------------------------------------------
-------- Antonio ----- Payet ------- Moses ---------
-------------------------------------------------------------
----------------------- Emenike -------------------------

I can see why Lee might go for Lanzini instead of Moses however I think he would be best as a sub as he's just come back from injury and (along with Song) can impact the match if needed or come on for half an hour for fitness

I'd go:
-----------------------Adrien
Byram----Ogbonna---Collins----Creswell
---------------Noble-------Obiang
Antonio-----------Payet------------Moses
--------------------Emineke

Subs: Randolph, Oxford, Song, Henry, Lanzini, Carroll and Valencia

Do we know if Carroll and Valencia are back for this one or maybe Sakho?

Samuel always knew how to play against the Hammers.

Tighter at the back, than against Balckburn. The movement up front will unravel them.

Errrr listen to the advice of a veteran. Don't put Sadly into the subject of your wedding day. You are quite correct of course...but don't let her indoors know.

On my wedding day we drew o-o with Sunderland. My best man was assigned duties to let me know of any goals with some prearranged signals. Just bad planning on my part. Next time I get married it will be a summer affair. Pardon?

Have to be winning games like this. They will be up for it and we need to start better and put that to bed early doors.

Their recent results haven't been that bad for where they are, and I think this is going to be really tough. I can see them getting an early goal and parking the bus for a very frustrating 0-1, or 1-1, with Sam hoping our crowd gets on the player's backs the longer they frustrate.

I hope Big Sam gets a decent reception. It's been discussed before (the mods would argue enough) but at the end of the day he did what he was asked to do during his tenure.

We obviously are favourites but this is West Ham and he is Big Sam, so who knows!

I don't know how I feel about welcoming him back.

Yes he did what he was asked in terms of results but he was a hugely egotiistical, divisive oaf of a man.

Can't stand the deluded knob.

Do I want the day to be about him? Certainly not, that's what he's hoping for.

Reid's back for this game i think. Lanzini should just be kept in reserve i think. Don't rush him back! Bring him on if necessary.

Let's kill this one from the outset. Sam was manager here for 4 years and I can't remember a game where he sent someone out to take out one of the opposing team.

Maintaining the marriage theme...

We beat Sunderland 2-0 on my wedding day.

I wasn't popular with some for getting married when we were at home but the evening celebrations were great!

Without him (and the for the most part boring football) we might not be where we are now playing the football we are. He did what was required of him even leaving at the right time and I for one will welcome him back even though he will never be a favourite.
