FA Premier League
Saturday, 9th April 2016
Boleyn Ground, Upton Park, E13
KO: 12:45

Let's hope that this game, the talking points are about the football, and not the chap in the middle.
We need to win to keep our (slim) chances of top 4 alive.

Who do we even want in charge? Is there a decent referee left in the game?

Re: West Ham United v Arsenal: Match Thread
As is always the way, if we'd have won today and drawn against Arsenal I don't think too many would have complained.
Really could do with three points from this game. Go into the Man Utd game confident (which is far more important in my opinion).
I'd probably start with this same team as today, providing Kouyate's card gets rescinded. Maybe Tomkins if for Emenike and push Antonio further forward.

The most we can hope for is one that is passively **** who hides from making big decisions.EastleighHammer16 wrote:Who do we even want in charge? Is there a decent referee left in the game?

Don't know if anyone's pointed it out elsewhere but, if we had got the extra 4 points we should have from the last two games, we would be going into this game 3 points behind L'Arse - absolute sickener that that chance has been denied us by refereeing decisions, Disgrace!

Re: West Ham United v Arsenal: Match Thread
On my birthday so I'm hoping I get a nice present from the lads!
I've had a look and these are the results on my birthday since I was born in 87:
1991 - Brighton & Hove Albion - Away - Lost 0:1
2005 - Coventry City - Home - Won 3:0
2006 - Chelsea - Away - Lost - 1:4
2011 - Bolton Wanderers - Away - Lost - 0:3
2012 - Birmingham City - Home - Draw - 3:3
So it's not been the best! Still the 2 times at home we've scored 3 goals so lump on that!

Sadly going into games now expecting to be shafted by a big club friendly or just plain s*** ref! Would've taken 4 points out of this and the Palace game so a win needed now but just don't think we'll be 'allowed' to. A Walcott dive or a soft tug (oo err) at a corner for a penalty. Would still be really happy with 5th

Re: West Ham United v Arsenal: Match Thread
We won't win this. Call me paranoid but the FA & their officials seem to want Arsenal to compete with Leicester for as long as possible because it's all about David Dein & co (hence Walcott & the likes being default England choices), & Scudamore & his premiership chums seem to want Citeh & Man U in Europe for the cash & name.
If the decisions & refereeing against Chelsea & Palace was somewhere like Italy or Spain, we'd all be going, "yeah clearly it's all a bit fishy this" - frankly it amazes me that there's so little questioning of Arsenal getting home draws year after year in the cups, 5+ minutes added on to home games, their form v international selection, etc etc - so there's absolutely no way we'll get the rub of the green against this lot
I loathe them more than Spurs personally. I know a lot of their supporters & a fair few of them are radio show phone-in merchants who whinge as soon as they draw a game. Horrible underachieving spoilt corrupt club.
& Mourinhio was spot on about Wenger.

Re: West Ham United v Arsenal: Match Thread
Massive game in this regard. We are currently 3 behind city who are next playing West Brom at home who quite frankly having reached 40 points will be starting to think of their holiday plans for June. Therefore losing to Arsenal leaves us too much to do.-DL- wrote:We need to win to keep our (slim) chances of top 4 alive.
If we beat Arsenal and maintain that 3 point gap then IMO an opportunity will materialise. In their next two games City have Chelsea away and Newcastle away. With already poor away form these two games represent very tough challenges and IMO there is no way they get max points. I would say 3 max and perhaps less. We meanwhile face Watford at home and Leicester away. Okay, the latter is against the league leaders but I just have a feeling we will do them.
I will make this prediction. If we beat Arsenal then I reckon two games later we will be above City.

Take your pick from:
A dubious penalty award
A blatantly obvious offside goal
Another harshly awarded red card to a West Ham player

Re: West Ham United v Arsenal: Match Thread
Worried about this.
If we had done what we should have yesterday then I'd gladly take a draw next week.
However I feel no home advantage being taken from these two games.
I know we perform better against the bigger boys and we will have to next week.
However the pessimist in me resurfaces, lose 1-2.

Huge player for us. However, if he is suspended then surely this is a time for Song to come in and get him self up for a game against his old club.hammer1975 wrote:Could all depend on whether Kouyate is able to play

Slav has to show us all he's skills in this game.
Motivation, tactics, gamesmanship.
He has to be on top form from now until after the game.
This on ne game, imo, will show us he's true mettle.

They'll be cocky after beating a Watford team concentrating on the cup. Pedro will be awesome. JT to go rb and release Antonio forward. 3-0!!! COYI
