---------------Adrian-------------
-------Reid----Ox-----Oggy---
Antonio---Kouyate---Obiang----Feghouli
---------Lanzini-----Payet--------
-----------Fletcher/Zaza---------
Thought Adrian played well enough to not be dropped, Nobes hasn't been himself lately (along with others I know). Wouldn't mind seeing either Fletcher or Zaza start, as long as they get the service !!

Re: West Ham United v Middlesborough 1st October 16
don't know what to do about antonio. always exciting when he gets the ball in a dangerous area and is a great threat at the far stick, but was culpable for two of their three goals and provides no link up play whatsoever.
don't think it was as noticeable when we had cresswell because he always provided the neat little link ups on the wing with payet while antonio exploited the space on the other side with his directness.

He has to have somebody sitting in midfield. We just can't go on like this

This is what is bugging me. Slav has not learned this from three weeks straight of hammering.Puff Daddy wrote:He has to have somebody sitting in midfield. We just can't go on like this

He's a massive problem.Beavis Danzig wrote:don't know what to do about antonio. always exciting when he gets the ball in a dangerous area and is a great threat at the far stick, but was culpable for two of their three goals and provides no link up play whatsoever.

He's pretty much been our biggest goal threat, yet at the same time becomes one of the biggest threats to us.
Perhaps seeing what he is like upfront is worth a try. Wasn't entirely sure, but we have f*** all else in that department at the moment.
Obiang needs to start the next game. I would also bring Byram back into the side at RB and start Feghouli on the RW, and hopefully he provides a bit more support for Byram than Antonio does.

Re: West Ham United v Middlesborough 1st October 16
I know why don't we try Kouyate and noble holding with Payet Lanzini and Antonio in front of them again....
Another 3/4 goal hammering later
Hmmm back to the drawing board

Rinse and repeat.
It's like pardew but worse, no plan B

Play Antonio at CF and stick Obiang or Byram in at Zaza's expense
It will work.

Very tempting.bubbles1966 wrote:Play Antonio at CF and stick Obiang in at Zaza's expense

Obiang is a must. I would rest Koyoute, and put Noble and Lanzini in front of him.

Two DMs is essential and that doesn't include Noble imo.Claretdave wrote:

Put him in a three behind Antonio with Payet and Lanzini.
Then the full backs can get forward.

Re: West Ham United v Middlesborough 1st October 16
If he is not gone by the weekend, lose this and I would think it will be his last. I don't actually think it is he, who is responsible in its entirety for our malaise this season , but unfortunately, it will most likely be he who ultimately pays the price. Poor sod, he has just has a baby daughter as well but that is how the old cookie crumbles sometimes
Re: West Ham United v Middlesborough 1st October 16
I don't want him out, but he IS responsible, totally and utterly responsible. He hasn't got them playing with any shape or plan. I'd rather we shut up shop for a couple of games and then go again. At least we have the players to do that now but for the next few games we need to defend as a unit and get into the habit before we can even consider going all out attack again.Puff Daddy wrote:If he is not gone by the weekend, lose this and I would think it will be his last. Re: West Ham United v Middlesborough 1st October 16
Just thinking with us not having a scoring striker ( well we do actually) lets go 4-1-3-2
-----------------Randolph
Byram ---Oxford------ Ogbonna ------Arbeloa
-----------------Obiang
Antonio -----Lanzini --------- Kouyate
---------Martinez -----Fletcher
Martinez has been scoring freely for the development squad and before any harps on about his age. Don't forget Cottee was 17 on his debut and Defoe was 18.
He' seems the one striker we have who has the confidence to have a go at goal. Partner hime with Fletcher and we may have a chance
Our so called superstars have been beyond and whats thw point of us recruiting youth if we don't give them their head. I wish we hadn't loaned Burke out so quickly as I think the boy has a great footballing brain and reads the game so well.
We must try the one striker we have who is showing some desire.

Re: West Ham United v Middlesborough 1st October 16
I think this is make-or-break for Slav, unfortunately. He's a great guy, intelligent, articulate, and considered.
But we cannot continue to have: goal keepers who can't keep goal, defenders who can't defend, and midfielders who cannot occupy the middle of the field. At least we've got a striker who's on strike
I don't know where the pressure to play possession football is coming from, but we must revert to counter-attacking. Even against Boro. Get the basics right first, and leave the rabonas for when we're 3 goals up please.
