Did you agree with his comments on Cresswell?chalks wrote:He's a friend of mine.
Lovely lovely man, very fond of West Ham and was very close to Bobby Moore. Speaks about him with real heart
Lots of media are up there own arse, but Jonathan is honestly one of the nice guys
Does piss me off when people slag off those they don't know just for the sake of it

We look so much a better team with Antonio in a defensive right sided position.
Yes he has problems defensively but he plays better offensively as he can see the game in front of him and the team are more balanced as without him there nearly everything comes down the left.

He was right back for the majority of the last half of last season, when we played some of the best football we have played in the last 39 years.Patito wrote:Wonder if he'd work out as a right back? :arry:

What is clear though is that not ONE signing gets in our best eleven, and even worse, 1 player we would have sold, Obiang, has forced his way in.
A shocking summer window that looks worse after every result.

In agreement, Bar Ayew, Ayew gets in as a strikercarnage wrote:What is clear though is that not ONE signing gets in our best eleven, and even worse, 1 player we would have sold, Obiang, has forced his way in.

Was a point I highlighted in several transfer threads, we had an absolute stinker of a transfer window, priority should of been a star striker and a experienced solid RB.
Wouldn't of minded squad fillers if we'd of achieved in getting a RB/striker

Ayew will be our first choice striker when fit.
Arbeloa, even though I don't rate him much, is an improvement on what we had at RB last year.
Other than that, the signings won't trouble the first eleven from last year (although I think Fougheli will turn out to be pretty good)

I am not sure Arbeloa is Crouchy. I want the team from the last half of last season back with a bit of tinkering in the midfield to tighten up a bit on the defensive side.

If you like Antonio at right back then you wouldn't thunk Arbeloa is an improvement. I don't like iron mike at RB so Arbeloa is better than nothing.
I want us to spend the time betwwen now and next summer really targeting a RB and spending decent cash if necessary

Credit where it is due-well done Slaven Bilic. That 3-4-2-1 system suits everybody particularly Kouyate, Noble, Obiang, Payet and Lanzini.
Re: Crystal Palace v West Ham - Match Thread
Though I'm a massive fan I thought Noble was quite poor on the ball. Some poor decisions and passes.
However, if you watch him in that second half, he is such a leader, you can't replace that. Bilic knows it too.
On field he is constantly talking to everyone. Go here, go there, encouraging, admonishing.
When we are scrapping, we need him.

For where the club is at this moment in time I would say that our starting 11 is difficult to improve upon. The players that have come in are either youngsters with potential or have not played in the premier league and need time to bed in. Until they have settled or matured then they will be squad players who will fill holes as and when required. It is only now that Obiang has seemingly go to the point where he might get a run in the side.carnage wrote:What is clear though is that not ONE signing gets in our best eleven.

Rode our luck but did very well to come away with anything today. Benteke penalty was a gift to us - fortunate to get three points perhaps but it's nice to have fortune favouring us for a few minutes this season.
MoTM for us - take your pick - Cresswell, Reid, or Lanzini.
Bilic did well to get the right formation - especially in the first half, defence looked very different from the last few weeks. For about 20 minutes in the first half we had that 3-6-1 giving Palace all sorts of headaches - thanks Cresswell - then the wing-back formation reverted to a defensive posture of 5-4-1 for most of the rest of the game. Did what was needed.
Tactically, Pardew blew it for this match. Palace are great this season. Can't help but wonder what they would have done with Cabaye starting and maybe playing two up front from the off.

Great win. Only saw the 2nd half so missed what was the 'good half'. Thought we were a bit defensive minded 2nd half and invited them on too much.
If Benteke had not had a that melt down I think we woukd have loSt but we needed that bit of luck
Hope we really go for it against Sunderland from the first whistle. We haven't really done that at home yet (except Watford) and should get at them whilst their confidence is so fragile

Great result yesterday.Whenever Kouyate has played CB he has, pretty much been our best player.Wing Back suits Antonio, but not FB!
Ogbonna has a tendancy to switch off at times and certainly owes Benteke a drink!Zaza is not and has never been an instinctive goalscorer and did a fine job yesterday, imo.Dont go raising your hopes over Ayew either - he is not a central striker, he is a goalscoring winger. The transfer window was a total disaster, imo, driven by a Bilic attempt to mould a team that was not Allardyce/daydream Dave's.
