Lanzini if selected will have to offer more than yesterday .Mind you, he's hardly alone in that , a few of ours had poor-ish games .

Oxford is injured. It may have been mentioned on here before...BarryGreen wrote:Confident for this. Depends who they are likely to play up top but I would give Oxford a run in the 3 cbs. Fernadez will get a good run out with feghouli and Nordveit also. Be interesting to see what he does line up wise.

3 tram stops down from me, first game of the season, can't wait. It'll be entertaining.

Re: Manchester United v West Ham United: EFL cup Match Thread
It's typical of us to have man u, man u & arsenal in the space of 6 days with our two best strikers out injured! The stupidity of it is, all we need is a decent big man to hold the ball up because we have goals in all of our attacking midfielders - Payet, Antonio, Lanzini, Ayew, Fernandes, Feghouli.
But judging by last night, Fletcher doesn't seem to be the answer (despite being 6' plus) although obviously he is young and will improve. This is where a squad player like Carlton Cole is handy for just being difficult to deal with. But i'll admit that it's a bit bizarre to say that someone like Carlton would have probably been more beficial for us this season than £20 million Zaza.
But it's a case of what they offer, not the £20 million price tag which i really hope we don't go through with.

Re: Manchester United v West Ham United: EFL cup Match Thread
was up there yesterday and am looking forward to Wednesdays game too
really fancy our chances against them, I think we will go there with a lot more confidence
its a game they have to win too...their big opportunity for silverware, so don't expect them to rest everyone for this
interested to know how many tickets weve sold...spoke to a fella at OT who reckons over 7k have been sold...if true that's unreal support given the time, cost and that weve just played them

I am also interested to know. Last I heard it was about 3,500 which was just over a week ago. I find 7,000 very hard to believe but I had heard 6,000 before the weekend. From what I can see on the online ticket office only 2 blocks of the upper tier are open to us (plus the usual lower tier allocation) - I think 4,000 is probably nearer the mark to be honest.frankiemac wrote:

That could work, Noble needs to step up though after yesterday was fairly poor imo.wizzo_66 wrote:----------------------------------Adrian------------------------------

Re: Manchester United v West Ham United: EFL cup Match Thread
I know that last year Bilic declared the importance competing strongly in the cups. But that was when we were flying and able to push on both fronts with a healthy squad. Now we are struggling will he prioritise the league over cups this season? We played a strong XI versus Chelsea but a month on and we are in the same lowly position with an important home game versus Arsenal looming. I think that he will go for it against MU but we shall be cream crackered against the Goons who will probably rotate for the cup due to injuries/knocks.

Re: Manchester Utd v West Ham Utd: match tread (EFL Cup)
Think the fixture list has been kind to Slav. The two games after Wednesday are the sort where any point is a bonus rather than essential. If we suffer fatigue and lose to Arsenal then so be it. I expect us to anyway.

Quick question I was wondering if anyone could help with. I've just bought another ticket for this game just now on the e-ticketing website - do you think it'll be delivered tomorrow sometime? I've never ordered this late before, and I'm heading up to Manchester early Wednesday so won't be around for the post that morning..

from a website :
The three pubs nearest the ground (The Trafford, Sam Platts and The Bishops Blaize) generally won't let you in if you wear away colours. The best bet is probably the city centre or along one of the stops on the Metrolink. On my last couple of visits I have drank at the Quadrant pub which had a mixture of home and away fans and a couple of handy Chinese/Chippies nearby. The pub is about a 10-15 minute walk away from Old Trafford, in the direction of the Cricket Ground (see Directions & Parking for more info). Luke Burns a visiting Birmingham City fan adds; 'There is also the Lime Bar in nearby Salford Quays. Good beer, quick service and good mix of home and away supporters'. Also in Salford Quays (which is about a mile away from Old Trafford) is the Matchstick Man pub, which is part of the Hungry Horse chain and serves visiting supporters.
Andy Syborn adds 'away fans are okay to drink in the Bridge at Sale. It is two stops from Old Trafford on the Metro (about eight minutes journey time)'. Alternatively alcohol is normally served within the ground, although for some high profile games the Club opt not to sell any. This is in the form of; Heineken £4.50 (400ml bottle), Bulmers £4.30 (330ml bottle), John Smith's £4.40 (440ml can) and White Sauvignon Wine £4.80 (187ml bottle).
