Re: Liverpool vs West Ham Utd: match thread
We're getting beaten here, whatever we play.
I'd give a few perennial subs a go. No injuries pre Burnley & Hull. The likes of Zaza and Nordveidt, who are rubbish, should get a run out.
Also, the 5-4-1 must go. 4-2-3-1 is the formation.
Adrian
Arbeloa Reid Ogbonna Cresswell
Nordveidt Obiang
Feghouli Lanzini Ayew
Zaza
Carroll for the last 10 in order to start v Burnley.

Nordveidt and Arbeloa. I assume you are looking at double figures in the conceded department for that match.tjr008 wrote:We're getting beaten here, whatever we play.

Re: Liverpool vs West Ham Utd: match thread
I can't see anything other than getting smashed.
If we do lose, damage limitation is massively required. Going into the Burnley game having conceded 10+ goals is not worth thinking about.
That said, I'm generally stupidly optimistic so will head there on Sunday with my lad with memories of last season to keep us buoyant.
Gut: A spirited "Where did that performance come from?" in a shocking 1-2 win.
Head: 4-0, Bilic sacked. The end.

But who is going to make the runs into the channels and convert?!IronworksDave wrote:Liverpool are suspect at the back ... they are easy meat to a good through ball ... and we have Payet the King of assists ....
Fletcher - either runs out wide or when he stays central, he hovers and waits for a cross to develop.
Zaza - enough said
Ayew - Will be out wide
Sakho - Would do if wasn't injured
Carroll - not enough pace and struggles to score when one on one
Re: Liverpool vs West Ham Utd: match thread
I have a feeling a statement needs to be made here. Drop every single player who isn't cutting it in training (Slav did say that players will n longer be played based on reputation alone a while back) and play whoever is putting in even satisfactory effort.
I honesty don't care who plays but all i know that players needing dropped are Ogbonna, Masuaku, Payet, and Noble. Probably (definitely) more but those four jump out at me. Payet has been infuriating me so much recently.
Don't even care what the result is and I expect a heavy defeat whether these players play or not. Do we have cover to drop these players? Probably not. Do I care. No. Shame on them.
Players who are putting in satisfactory effort imo - Ayew (looked good against arsenal, sharp, dangerous, kept taking free kicks quickly and every time he got the ball he was heading towards goal with it or sending the ball that way), Feghouli (dare I say? I thought he put in a good shift in his last game), Creswell (obviously), Antonio (at least he breaks a sweat at times), Kouyate (I'm liking the new Kouyate I must say. Solid defender), Obiang (I'm a big fan of him, his work rate, and he's my favourite style of player), Fletcher. Everyone else is neither here nor there for me.

All out attack. Penetrate the soft core that Liverpool still have.
Dunno who's available defensively but I'm allocating Obiang and 4 defenders behind the following.
Antonio ----- Lanzini ----- Payet
------------------ Ayew ---------------
----------------- Carroll ---------------

Is there a rule that says we can't name 2 GK's? Maybe we could keep a clean sheet with 2 of 'em.

Imagine Adrian on pitch, would get sent off in 20 minutes with his tacklesEastleighHammer16 wrote:Is there a rule that says we can't name 2 GK's? Maybe we could keep a clean sheet with 2 of 'em.scarfer:

The way klopp teams press, if we can break out of the press there will be plenty of space to exploit. That is the only way we are going to hurt them. Could be a Carroll game this one, when they press us we can put a ball up to him with Payet, Lanzini and Ayew off him we could do some damage!
Liverpool 3 West Ham 3! (I have had a good day today)

Probably the worst game we would want this weekend. Last year we won 7-1 on aggregate across the 4 games. Could quite easily be that score on the day if we don't improve defensively.

Re: Liverpool vs West Ham Utd: match thread
Basel manager seems to be on the wind-up ahead of their CL game with Arsenal
“Arsenal have that quality that even when you think you are quite good, they still score a goal. Alexis Sanchez didn’t have to score three goals for us to know he is an excellent player.
“I did see the 5-1 match – West Ham dominated that match. What I could see is that Arsenal have really dynamic movement and good forward runs.
“They are a very efficient squad. In the first half it was balanced, in the second half West Ham were the better team and were dominating the match. But then Arsenal scored and it changed so fast and made them pay.”

He's right, at 1-0 in the second half we were the team looking like scoring. Then they scored again, Slav put three central strikers getting in each other's way up front and they smashed us.

Re: Liverpool vs West Ham Utd: match thread
The Bournemouth result's done us absolutely no favours, that plus our three wins over them last season they will be looking to completely humiliate us.
Happy to get out of this without the goal difference taking another rinsing, but six points from Burnley and Hull is now the absolute minimum:
Randolph, Arbeloa, Reid, Ogbonna, Masuaku, Obiang, Noble, Kouyate (If fit? No idea when he's back), Lanzini, Payet, Carroll. (Arbeloa scares the life out of me, in for a long afternoon).
