If they do choose to pull a stunt like that and rest the 'first choice' players, I hope the club have the decency to let me know before I gun the engine and head off to Murkyside Sunday morning....kitthehammer wrote:Ok lets write off the liverpool match and maybe save players for burnley where at least we'll have carroll, kouyate, cresswell & antonio back. We need to start thinking tactically about what matches we are capable of winning. So save payet, lanzini etc and stick the likes of feghouli, nordveit, arbeloa, calleri etc on v liverpool.
There's no point in risking injury to decent players in a match we are almost definitely going to get thumped at.

Re: A bit of positivity,,,against burnley
I quite like the idea of the Championship. More games, more wins, cheaper tickets, trains won't be as packed, plenty of room to stretch legs and pick where I sit. I reckon we'd be a lot happier as a fan base.kevino wrote:talking of positivity, let's really get behind the team against Burnley as well rather than moaning and groaning if we don't score in the first 10 or 15 mins. Whilst I know most of us are against the owners, their crap signings, and the move, do any of us seriously want to be back in the Championship next year?

Re: A bit of positivity,,,against burnley
Burnley and Hull and Leicester and Swansea will be targeting there games against us quite simply because we are the weakest team in the Division
Going down will break my boys hearts, but knowing how much it will cost the scum that run the club will be hugely satisfying
So the positivity for the above games will be coming from the opposition, not us

Imagine putting all of our eggs into one basket. Then we drop the bloody basket.

I will be there shouting and singing loud and proud as always. I am a bit worried that around me will be loads of empty seats and we will get out-sung by the away fans.kevino wrote:talking of positivity, let's really get behind the team against Burnley as well rather than moaning and groaning if we don't score in the first 10 or 15 mins. Re: A bit of positivity,,,against burnley
I rekon we hit rock bottom against the gooners and that result was the wake up call we might not get anything up at anfield but I believe we will see a much improved west ham up there. We will turn burnley over and will start moving up the table.
Re: A bit of positivity,,,against burnley
This sounds familiar. Didn't we say the same with the earlier run of "easy games"mumbles87 wrote:After the Liverpool game we have 4 winnable games on the bounce
We really need 10 points min from them!

Anyone who thinks ANY game is easy the way we are playing need to wake up and smell the coffee.
Re: A bit of positivity,,,against burnley
Hell yeh. Just to spite 'em. Hope they loose millions. The on-field opposition is almost irrelevant, its the quality of the people in the stands (sorry curves) that I'm more concerned with. In fact, I'd possibly go as far to say a relegation is the more likely circumstance that I'll renew, cause nothing thus far has given me the inspiration..kevino wrote: Whilst I know most of us are against the owners, their crap signings, and the move, do any of us seriously want to be back in the Championship next year?
Re: A bit of positivity,,,against burnley
Head to head home results only comparing this season to last season puts us just 1 point worse off by the time burnley come to town
(I believe so anyways just double checking it now)
its the away form that we have drastically fallen short of

Didnt we only lose twice at home up until this point last year? Bournemouth and Leicester?
Re: A bit of positivity,,,against burnley
Indeed but we also had a lot of draws in the middleWoodfordJnr wrote:Didnt we only lose twice at home up until this point last year? Bournemouth and Leicester?
there was a tweet about it before the weekend result wise we are identical going into the gooners game .. however now it reads 1 more loss instead of a draw.. so 1 point worse off

If we get absolutely slaughtered on Sunday, maybe it'll lower expectations for this one. Otherwise it'll be people moaning that we're not 2 up after 20 mins
Re: A bit of positivity,,,against burnley
Im feeling positive for this one.. I havent managed to get to a home league game all season with this ticket ballet thing but have been to both cup games.. so good omen..
my mums colleague has 2 x tickets available for the next 2 games so taken burnley as im away for hull (ironicaly in the yorkshire area). Me and my old man going to see if our luck can smash this bad run.
2-1 to us.. carroll back to bang in the goals

West Ham United v Burnley: Match Thread
19:45, Wednesday 14 December
Impressed with our performance against Liverpool today.
I would keep the 4 at the back for this one but I'd go 4-4-2 with Antonio playing off the last man and Carrol up with him:
----------------- Randolph---------
Fernandes reid ogbonna cresswell
Feghouli obiang lanzini payet
---------Carrol----------Antonio-----
Task Antonio to stay on the shoulder of the last man when we have the ball but track back and help payet out when we don't. He has 1 in 2 games this season on average, he has to be playing in an attacking position.

---------------------- Adrian -------------------
Burke ----- Reid ---- Ogbonna ----- Cresswell
--------------- Obiang ---- Noble -----------
Antonio ------------------------------------Payet
---------------------- Lanzini ------------------
----------------------Carroll -------------------
I thought I read Burke was back? If so probably our best option if Arbeloa is still out or awol, if not Arbeloa should play. If those two are both out, is there not a youth right back we can try?
If Kouyate is back....
---------------------- Adrian -------------------
-------Kouyate---- Reid ---- Ogbonna
Antonio-------------------------------- Cresswell
--------------- Obiang ---- Noble -----------
---------- Lanzini -------------- Payet -------
----------------------Carroll -------------------
Interestingly don't think Ayew gets into our best XI or fits into our formation unless he replaces Lanzini in the first one... even though it's common knowledge the structure of the deal was the main reason for signing him it seems like a waste of transfer fee at the minute
So still no summer recruits getting near our best XI

Or Lanzini and Payet playing more narrow and Antonio off Carroll running wherever he wants to run
