Re: West Ham Utd vs Hull City: match thread
I'm tired of 3 at the back at that point. Nordtveit was fine at RB against Liverpool and he can certainly play there against Hull. Slav needs to nut up and drop one out of Noble, Kouyate, Reid or Ogbonna (depending on which position he wants to play them all in) from the starting line up and stop trying to force his best players onto the pitch in a formation.
Personally, I'd have Kouyate at the back (RCB), Obiang and Noble as the midfield two, and pick one of Reid and Ogbonna to sit on the bench. Nordtveit at RB where he was perfectly cromulent against Liverpool

I imagine that is the first time 'cromulent' has been used on KUMB

At some stage we're gonna thump someone at the new place.
I'm gonna go bonkers & say it'll be against this lot
5-0 - Carroll (2), Ayew, Payet, & an O.G

3 4 3 for me.
It gives us an extra man in midfield.
They are not going to press us anyway.
Just need a bit more practice of getting the crosses in to Carroll. We should have scored 3 against Burnley.
I understand that Hull have stayed over in London after the Spuds game. Let us hope they have found some nice soho night clubs.

Hull are not a lot better than Burnley away from home, but they have won a game and have scored five so they are better albeit only marginally.
Hull away: P8 W1 D1 L6 F5 A20
Burnley away: P7 W0 L6 F1 A16
So they're averaging less than a goal a game, and letting in two and a half.
You would ordinarily think that we would win something like 2-0 or 3-1 from that but we only beat Burnley by a rebound from a penalty, it was by no means decisive stuff.
We are a lot better than these teams man for man on paper, but it isn't working out that way in reality. I'd take 1-0 happily now if it were offered. Guess that's a sign of the times

Hull have better players than Burnley. Can see this being a score draw, especially if Slaven persists with the current set up and balance.

You're right, they should be a more difficult proposition than Burnley.bubbles1966 wrote:Hull have better players than Burnley. Can see this being a score draw, especially if Slaven persists with the current set up and balance.
Carroll gets his head to a lot of balls that nobody makes any attempt to get to, it seems such a waste.
Could Ayew do that ?
It would mean dropping Payet or Lanzini though.
We seem to have the gameplan wrong, we play a huge guy but make no effort to pick up his flick ons, while neither do we throw any decent crosses his way.
We don't have proper balance and we punch below our weight.

Same players different system for me.. can always revert if needed
---------------Randolph
Kouyate---Reid---Ogbonna--Cresswell
Lanzini----Obiang----Noble-----Payet
--------------Carroll---Antonio

Carroll and Antonio might well work, he has the pace to get onto Carrolls flick ons, but does he have the nous ? Only one way to find out.mumbles87 wrote:Same players different system for me.. can always revert if needed

The big man definitely needs somebody working off of him.

Re: West Ham Utd vs Hull City: match thread
We are starting to look a Hull lot better if still a bit nervous...the unsolicited errors seem to weigh heavily on individuals and it is affecting the way we play. I would like to see the shackles come off and really go at this lot...giving a beating to someone is just what we need, so a 3 goal spread would be grand.
In reality, any win will do, another nervy 1-0.

Re: West Ham Utd vs Hull City: match thread
This is going to be a scrappy, close run thing. No more than one goal in it again, with Hull sitting back and aiming to frustrate. Could go either way....
