Re: West Ham United V Manchester United: Match Thread
Carroll played 96 minutes today. I would think he will be among the subs for this one:
Randolph
Nordveit-Reid-Ogbonna-Cresswell
Obiang-Fernandes
Feghouli-Lanzini-Payet
Antonio
Bring on Carroll at 65 if we need to get a goal.

Another loss I'm afraid. But hopefully a spirited performance to cling onto....

We seem to Havard on from the start these days!
Re: West Ham United V Manchester United: Match Thread
I thin we my struggle without Noble's leadership, but I think Payet will be well up for this trying to showcase himself in the big game. I think we pull out a win but as a result lose Payet

I think we might get ripped a new one if we start like we started yesterday... Martial vs Nordtveit worries me immensely... really need some good performances from our holding midfielders tomorrow and hopefully when we do get our chances up top they get buried.

I know what you mean. But then I had the same fears when he was up against Montero at Swansea and Gray yesterday, two of the fastest wingers around but he allayed those fears. He's not the answer to our RB question because I'm looking for someone ala Cresswell with a right foot and Nord doesn't offer the same thing up the field as he's defensive minded but I have no qualms about keeping him in at RB until Byram is back to full fitness.richard99cook wrote:Martial vs Nordtveit worries me immensely.

Re: West Ham United V Manchester United: Match Thread
I take it Noble can't play in this due to his injury? And surely Slav want risk Carroll another 90 mins. Otherwise we are asking for trouble.

-Nordtviet-------------------Reid-----------Kouyate------------------Cresswell-
----------------------------Fernandes--Obiang--------------------------------------
----------------------------------------Ayew--------------------------------------------
-Feghouli--------------------------Antonio----------------------------------Payet-
Subs: Adrian, Byram, Ogbonna, Oxford, Lanzini, Carroll, Fletcher.
Pick the ACON players as they are going after this game anyway. Drop Ogbonna as he has been poor. Sadly Kouyate can only play in this game. But in the Cup game on Friday I'd give Oxford a chance in a nothing to lose game. Let's see what he can do. I was going to say Lanzini next to Obiang. But we need more defensive steel against Man Utd so I went for Fernandes. Give Feghouli a chance. We miss an old school winger who can whip dangerous balls into the box. And with Antonio starting and with Carroll coming on at some point in the game, hopefully we can create more havoc in their penalty box.
Then go with this team against City on Friday to give some youngsters, fringe players and players returning from injury a chance:
---------------------------------------Adrian---------------------------------------
-Byram-----------------Oxford--------------Reid------------------Masuaku-
---------------------------Nordtviet---------Obiang-----------------------------
--------------------------------------Lanzini---------------------------------------

Subs: Randolph, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Fernandes, Payet, Carroll, Martinez.

I might drive to Newbury Park, but that obviously means I will have to forego the traditional post match piss up.clawhammer wrote: Or C2C from Basildon and change at a West Ham

Reckon we'll lose both of these regardless of the side we put out. Can't see Nobes making this game, I'd stick with AC if he's fit

Re: West Ham United V Manchester United: Match Thread
We have to get the ball out of defence a lot better than we did in that Cup game recently , Ogbonna was the biggest culprit , he gave the ball away far too often and Man Utd pressed us hard , granted we were the away side that day . Our players have to look for the ball , help each other out more , keep our heads and the chances will come .
West Ham United 2 Manchester United 1 .
West Ham United 2 Manchester United 1 .

Have we told the kickoff time, and that London has something called 'traffic'?
