Just to point out that Ireland got its independence from Britain in 1923, Randolph is therefore not British. However, the point about English speakers may not be too far from the truth. I believe Pedro's English is excellent, though whether he can understand Andy Carroll is another matter.

Great result for Slav and the team today.
Three quality goals, fit to win any match in their own right, with mentions to Obiang, Lanzini, Antonio & Carroll.
Watching Palace reminded me of why I hated Allardyceball so much. 10 in the defensive 3rd and 1 in the center circle. (shudders). Reading the link Romford posted, some of them have him sussed already, it seems.

Not that it matters much, but a year ago his English wasn't excellent enough to be used in interviews: http://www.theguardian.com/football/201 ... g-west-hamPentonville wrote:I believe Pedro's English is excellent, though whether he can understand Andy Carroll is another matter.

In my defence I considered Randolph being Irish and thought he was NI.... should've checked, bloody pedants everywhere

It was combined with the applause for Frankie van der Elst, about ten minutes before the teams came out so the ground was two thirds empty.BMLGirl wrote:Did I miss the round of applause for Graham Taylor? Thought it was at all grounds?

Ahhh. I had almost forgotten the delightful feeling of a big win.
Funny football isn't it? From total doom and gloom to this. The rollercoaster is rolling. Welcome back West Ham!

What was the point of that? Surely it's so everyone can show their respects and even more so as it included van der Elst. Very odd thing to do.Johnny Byrne's Boots wrote:

It did seem a bit muggy, but a thought has just occurred to me. I wonder if they were afraid it would be hijacked by an anti-Payet song?

I always bang on about him but Obiang...immense today. One misplaced pass all day. Great result, we needed that

Three pieces of class infront of goal and I'm pretty sure they were our only three chances on target.
Well done all today. Every single player deserves credit as does Bilic for that change at half time.

Byram had a cracking half too.
Solid and not afraid to go forward.

Re: West Ham United V Crystal Palace: Match thread
Started bright but it was all a bit awkward up front for us. Lanzini and Feghouli didn't really seem to know where they were playing and certainly didn't support Carroll.
I thought the game was crying out for Fetcher to come on for Feghouli and have two out and out strikers up top but the switch that Slav made worked pretty well with everyone knowing their roles.
Feghouli had a game of two halves. Terrible first half but a lot brighter second half in a position more familiar to him. Same can be said for Noble who looked very leggy in the first half leading to misplaced passes and poorly timed tackles. Totally different second half though, sitting deeper and picking Palace off.
Reid, Obiang and Carroll were all absolutely superb today. Gave us a quality spine and seemed to install confidence throughout the side. Lanzini was class too, constantly looking to get at Palace and cause problems.
Cresswell and Antonio worked tirelessly, as did Byram when he came on, they all had very impressive games both defending and getting forward.
All in all a great team effort today, Palace were negative and poor, especially considering the talent they have but we still had to dispatch them and we did that in some style second half.
As for the crowd, stadium and overall experience, it was so much better today. The current off field situation really seemed to galvanise the whole place. It was rocking towards the end, obviously helped by a 3-0 win with some stunning goals.

Ugh, Payet is in the MOTD title graphics. Mid season update required
