Re: Middlesbrough V West Ham United: Match Thread
Thought the ref was pretty lenient until Boro started taking us out in free flow counter attack
Probably explains Bhram not getting a yellow more than anything
He had a good game though and if he can stop the obvious shirt pulling his yellow cards would at least half - that has to be 'coachable'
Good mental strength by the team today - and pleased for Calleri. I wonder if he's the kind of striker who will have runs where he scores 3 goals from 3 touches and then go 10 without scoring.

A superb away result...that performance was a very good one by the lads, and by Slav in the changes he made when forced to.
Again Reid was colossal at the back...still some communication issues between Randolph and some of the defenders in certain situations, but that save from Stuani was top draw. Byram needs another couple of games and will get there.
Calleri deserved that break, played well when he came on and should have had a brace, but there is that edge to his game that suggests there is more of a player in there that just needs the confidence a first goal can give.
Feghoulie done ok and the more he plays, the better he could get.
Been critical of big Andy in the past, but when he has his body and mind tuned and focussed, he is that player and more we thought we were buying. A terrific brace today and ran himself into a tweaking groin...can only hope he's ready after the break...same for Nobes. Both are crucial to this ticking team.
A very good day again and thought our support were outstanding as usual. Safe journey home to all.

I feel my groin a lot, and I'm usually OK......Boo Boo wrote:AC felt his groin a little and was taken off as a precaution but he's ok, according to Slav in his presser
Re: Middlesbrough V West Ham United: Match Thread
Could have been easier, we missed a couple of very good chances.
The third came with them desperate, opened the gap that we should already have had.
Although we've been seriously punished by some of the better teams this season we've consistently put the strugglers to the sword, we are a class above the relegation haunted boys.
The performances since Payet was sussed have been so much more honest, we look like a decent team again with decent as derived from decency.

Good game of football this one.
Big Andy is such a worker. If he was fit the majority of the time he wouldn't be here. Up and down the pitch, defending, holding the ball up, scoring......I hope he's ok for the next one.
Nobes.. seems to have a more positive affect on the pitch since the lancing of Payet. Shame he went off as went from at least matching yhe smoggies to being totally on the back foot. Obiang as ever involved with defending and attacking, Lanzini is slowly growing into the next star player.
Byram.....Inexperience shines through quite a bit, but he will be a class player. We need to be patient and let him learn. No doubt about it, he will be a Hammers legend in time. Looks better than Winston when he first started and look where Winston is now.
Well plad lads, Slaven and the travelling crew for a wonderful Saturday/Sunday.

Re: Middlesbrough V West Ham United: Match Thread
Anyone else see the Boro fan lamp the bloke in their stand just after we scored our first? Knocked him over the seat and sparko. Can't believe he was one of ours.
Cops got the bloke's top which he threw off, but think he got away. If it was at our place, it would be on News at 10.
A few coins exchanged as well.

Another saturday at work with only 5 live for company.
Last week at 0-0 I had three rounds of toast and a brew and I repeated this today at 1-2 when it sounded like we were under the cosh so it's going to be a regular feature is the lucky toast
Cracking result and looking forward to the highlights 2nd week on the bounce.

I went to the riverside a few years ago to watch em play spurs. Guy at the front knocked out the guy next to him with one punch and then just ran out of the stadium. No argument or anything. Just stood up, one punch and out.Doc H Ball wrote:Anyone else see the Boro fan lamp the bloke in their stand just after we scored our first? Knocked him over the seat and sparko. That was the kind of game the best teams win .
The enjoyment of watching West Ham is returning and that's without what should be our most exciting player.

Eee those North East traditions.... I've never understood why they don't just shake hands when they leave.gegsy wrote:

Re: Middlesbrough V West Ham United: Match Thread
We were pretty excellent all over today really. Has to be said that despite having about 4 strikers Boro didn't look that great in front of goal and we defended really well. What a player Obiang has been recently.
The only player i would criticise today would be feghouli who didn't create much and gave the ball away a lot.
Noble was having a good game so it's a shame he went off.
Just sad about the news regarding ogbonna but it explains a lot.

So Carroll felt his groin a little and then came off, no wonder he had to be subbed.
