West Brom don't score many away from home but we are West Ham so naturally I'm going for:
West Ham 2-5 West Brom.
Carroll to score first, Rondon hat trick in the 2nd half.

Noble - Obiang - Kouyate midfield has been tried before and its never worked as none of those could link defence and attack so we just kept gifting possession away. If you want to play 3 in the centre then Lanzini is the key.

Bringing my old father in law for his first visit to Olympic Stadium , he's over 80 and been Boleyn before and to be honest it will prob be his last live game , wold be great if he saw a win and a few goals that'll be 1 0 to them then !!

They don't usually bring many but they have sold out their 3K , is it a tick off list, new stadium or Pullis scintillating football ?

big pitch might help us out here.
god help us if they go 1-0 up though. pulis frothing at the mouth at the opportunities to punt the ball out of touch and not see it for another ten minutes.

Posted this in another thread but probably relevant here
Our experience of three from Song, Kouyate, Noble and Obiang last season was largely ineffectual on the small Upton park pitch. My recollection was that they got in each other's way.
Given there is so much debate about the change in size of the pitch - perhaps a three of Noble, Kouyate and Obiang will be much more effective at the OS?

There's not a cigarette paper between the two teams and I can't see too many goals in this game. As you would expect from a Plus team, they don't get turned over very easily and are efficient and very well organised. Think this could be one of those where first goal wins and probably last on MOTD. Could even even end 0-0

Ha. Fair enough but you know what I mean. It's one thing playing Liverpool away and another forcing your game on the opponents.bubbles1966 wrote:

How many teams have we played this season on their 'off day'? I cannot recall any.
So, West Brom are due an off day.
4-0 to us!

Or just an overwhelming desire to get away from the West Midlands.cockney farmer wrote:They don't usually bring many but they have sold out their 3K , is it a tick off list, new stadium or Pullis scintillating football ?

He was fine - made at least three smart saves that I can remember. The goal caught him out at the near post which is never good, but it was a total blast up into the corner of the frame. Two inches off the post and he was cooked.Ben wrote:the game passed me by this weekend, intend to catch up and watch it but what was the deal with Randolph?
saw a few comments early on in that he wasn't looking great... has the win papered over a nervy display or was it just frustration at going 1 down?
didn't think he was up to much in the city game

I really don't see the pitch size as an issue, it's a BS excuse that there media spread around to fill dead air.hammer1975 wrote:Posted this in another thread but probably relevant here

Re: West Ham Utd vs West Bromwich Albion: match thread
Pitch size definitely isn't an issue because it's hardly any bloody bigger...
Boleyn 100.5 x 60 metres
OS 105 x 60 metres.
Just 4.5 metres longer, that's all.

Re: West Ham Utd vs West Bromwich Albion: match thread
Kouyate's a fairly consistent performer wherever he plays, but nearly always looks best either as a defender - as he has been latterly - or when he's allowed a licence to ghost into the box with some frequency in attack, like in his earliest appearances for the club, a little like Everton-era Fellaini.
Those job descriptions probably only account for 20% of his games for us though. He's usually left chuntering around the middle of the pitch doing a sort of not-quite-holding-midfielder thing. I'm not sure it's the best use of him, especially when Noble's present doing virtually the same thing.
