Re: West Ham Utd vs Chelsea: Match Thread
Conte has them well organised and working hard, for the money premiership players get that should be the minimum expected of them, we just need to do the same, put in a shift and don't make stupid individual errors, if they beat us because they have a moment of brilliance from a player like hazard then so be it, I can live with that, just hate it when we go into these games already beaten and roll over,
minimum required is just match them for work rate

Seeing what City and Arsenal have done to us at home, I hope we are better prepared. On a big pitch we can't give quality players so much time and space to hurt us.Ozza wrote:Best team in the league, 10 points clear
They will be a very different side to the one we played in the league cup.

0-3, Chelsea will ease up on us once it's three, I think this is going to be another **** one, you need eleven round pegs in eleven round holes when you're up against the side that are clear at the top of the league.

Re: West Ham Utd vs Chelsea: Match Thread
It's been mentioned on here (and everywhere else for that matter!) that Chelsea are extremely well organised. Something which we lack in spades but not the players fault. Bilic continues to play square pegs in round holes and team selection is awful, almost schoolboy 'pick the best players and put them anywhere'. On Saturday we had Antonio up front & centre again (he hates it), Kouyate right wing back and Snodgrass centre. Let's just reflect on what they achieved - Kouyate, penalty - Antonio, sent off, Snodgrass, anonymous & subbed. Not blaming them, they did their best but you could see they were visibly pissed off. Why on earth Bilic took Snoddy off first when clearly Antonio was a frustrated accident waiting to happen so is entirely to blame for the fact we don't have out strongest player running at Chelsea. It would have been a good opportunity to give Calieri a confidence boosting run out too after his fair display last time I would have thought. He could have played Byram at right back or switched the more experienced Fonte out right and Kouyate more central where he would have got more cover. If we are that disorganised against Chelsea, they will rip us apart just like City did. If Ayew can put in a performance (his confidence is getting better) I think we have a chance to score in open play, otherwise it's dead balls only in my opinion.

Re: West Ham Utd vs Chelsea: Match Thread
Holebas was away down the left during the first half, Kouyate caught out of position. Holebas got into the box, took his time, so much time that a 33 year old managed to get back and block his cross. Now if that's a top 6/7 side in that time situation 9 times out of 10 that cross won't get blocked, and if it doesn't get blocked there's a good chance they'll score. It's those situations that we get shown up on when facing the big boys, which is why we need eleven specialists in each position, decent restaurants don't have a pastry chef mucking in doing the washing up.

10 and a half years ago our right backs were Spector and Mears  at least they were right backs until one got a cameo as a box to box goalscoring midfielder during Avrams finest hour! Luckily Neill rocked up and saved us, what I'd give for him right now.

Re: West Ham Utd vs Chelsea: Match Thread
If we can best these, we're giving the deluded chokers in North London some false hope...winning will be a win, win situation....so win we must...
In reality, we are up against it and a draw would be a very good result considering the potential side Slav will be putting out. I fear we will get overrun in midfield and ripped apart at the back, but teams that get into these can do damage, so with the glass half full, I take us to fill he other half... 2-1 and a standing ovation

Re: West Ham Utd vs Chelsea: Match Thread
I have not been a member for a decade now and only went to one game last season but getting emails now asking me to book tickets for Chelsea on ticket exchange.
I thought you had to be a member to get tickets. Is support already drifting away? I thought there was 50,000 waiting in the wings.
(by the way I might not visit much now but have done my time since the 1970's)

Re: West Ham Utd vs Chelsea: Match Thread
I think West Ham need to take heart from how Burnley more than matched Chelsea at Turf Moor. Yes, Chelsea scored early and looked frightening for fifteen minutes afterwards but after Brady's free-kick went in Burnley were the better side and could have gone on to win.
I don't know if Andy Carroll will play - I really hope so because I like him and he can give Chelsea problems with the right service.
Alli benefited from Poch's tactic of drifting between Victor Moses and César Azpilicueta because of their lack of height and inability to deal effectively with targeted crosses from Eriksen. This proved to be Chelsea's Achilles heel and who better to exploit that than Andy Carroll?
Going back to Burnley though, they harassed and harried Chelsea all over the pitch for the last hour and this is what the Hammers need to do. Yes, Chelsea are clearly the best team in the Prem but they are not unbeatable. Wind Costa up all game, niggle at Hazard too & match their organisation and effort and it is not a forlorn hope next Monday.

Re: West Ham Utd vs Chelsea: Match Thread
both crowd and players need to up for this from the start. if we start like watford we will be 2 down in ten minutes.
start like the cup game and we have a chance.
whoever plays up from must put themselves about.
if carroll is not fit then start with ayew. hes starting to show something is it enough at the moment probably not but he is getting better and more involved in matches.
3-5-2 for this one

Re: West Ham Utd vs Chelsea: Match Thread
I am trying to approach this in the same way I approached the Man Citys game, we will get stuffed so I will have a few beers and just try to enjoy it anyway.
But this is different, I hate them c**** more than anybody else and the cup game has given me an irrational glimmer of hope.
