The last West Ham goalie I found reassuring was Phil Parkes. Even Ludo and Green lost it.HammerMan2004 wrote:I do miss Adrian. There's something strangely reassuring about the mad b*stard.

Re: Hull City v West Ham Utd:match thread
Tough call this one they see this as a 3 pointer and the start of their revival.Being honest we are the team all the relegation candidates would love to play especialy after the first half debacle against leicester. They will be well up for this we will need to match their desire to win if we are to get anything out of this game. They owe us one cos they were the far better side at our place and went home with nothing. I hope as we are away this will work in our favour and for me a point would be a good result for us
Re: Hull City v West Ham Utd:match thread
We need a win really. But we'll probably get a draw at best the way we are leaking goals at the moment.

Even Phil played one season too many. Stopped coming off his line at the end.

Re: Hull City v West Ham Utd:match thread
due to injuries I would like to see something like
adrian
byram kouyate fonte masuaka
fegouli fernandez noble lanzini
ayew carroll
subs randolph cresswell collins nordsvelt snodgrass fletcher quinna, THE POST !
snod to replace feg if needed but play on left with fernandez moving to right side.
Dig deep which surely they will and we should win this.
They outplayed us at the LS with the post being our best player. Time to perform.

Yep I like that team, gives us enough width, creative ability and enough presence in attack. I also like it when Lanzini sits slightly deeper than the number 10 role, I think he is very good at dictating play and controlling the tempo from there.Colours never run wrote:.............................Adrian

Not really been a fan of the 3 at the back system but I actually think with Byram this system will work better as he can get up the pitch well and defend when needed to form a back 5. Antonio was never really suited to this formation and caused an imbalance in my opinion.

Hull are a better side at home than us currently. This game will not be easy with the amount of injuries we are carrying. I hope we line up as we would going to one of the top sides, and counter.

Indeed. It also gives us plenty of youthful energy and pace around the team in Byram, Fernandes, Cresswell, Lanzini, Kouyate and Ayew.

To be fair, there are only four sides in the league with worse home form than us this season, and they're the other members of the bottom five with Hull.szola wrote:Hull are a better side at home than us currently.
I doubt we see a return of the back three here - the last time we used was the first half at Palace, where we were so bad we switched to four at half time. I like the robust element it gives us in defence, but I'm not sure our three would have the mobility to pull it off to be honest.
Re: Hull City v West Ham Utd:match thread
Marco Silva (a right back) will have a field day exploiting your line up CNR.
An out of form left wing back with three right footed centre backs behind him.
Or maybe you are trying to confuse him by making us as defensively poor on the left as we are on the right.

Re: Hull City v West Ham Utd:match thread
Bit nervous for this one, they are desperate for the points, the manager will be telling them how the man of the match was the post last time and the 1-0 penalty win, how unjust, make it right, 3 home wins in a row for Hull. This is one of their more winnable matches, I would have thought, & we don't seem to be full of confidence at the moment.
I'm not optimistic for this one. Hope to be wrong.

2-1 Hull.
This has the makings of a typical WHU performance - fall a goal behind as we fail to get started. Wake up and dominate the game; equalize. Sit back after scoring and fall behind again.
Sigh.

Re: Hull City v West Ham Utd:match thread
Absolutely everything about this match points towards a Hull win.
Their home form, our all-round form right now.
Our injuries.
Their need for three points v ours.
As mentioned a couple of posts above - the incentive of "righting the wrong" of our 1-0 win at LS.
But they are still Hull at the end of the day, and in spite of the above I expect us to come out and surprise a few people on Saturday. Three points for us, and assured safety from relegation with it.

Re: Hull City v West Ham Utd:match thread
They do not need the points any more than we do, it just as vital for us so the players should not be treating this match as such. A defeat here and we start to drag ourselves back in, with a daunting trip to Arsenal to come and then if we lose that it makes the Swansea match huge, with added pressure.
Happy Monday everyone

If we get a free kick and Lanzini is on the field Lanzini takes it, Snodgrass can p!ss off. That said, if Lurch plays I hope he has a blinder as this match is huge for us, I just want him near free kicks of Lanzini is about.
