The pub mate. This dull place doesn't have much else going for it

Great appraisal of Kouyate by Burnley,,..
Just to add that during our best ever patch early last season he and Noble played a very disciplined tandem role which corralled both their qualities perfectly. We should try to recreate that.

Agreed. Slav has all week to do that. It is just one game. I think the players from last week will be buzzing and the likes of Cresswell, Noble will be eager to get back in the side.mushy wrote: We need to fine tune the system from Saturday in order to be more creative, easier said then done.
I am confident on this one. We play well away.

Like Burnley, I haven't been impressed with Kouyate recently. He doesn't offer enough and we don't need the added height if we're playing 3 at the back.
I'd like to see

Byram--Noble--Nordveit--Masuaku

For me, the same team as last week but with Sakho up front.
It would be nice to have a bit of stability in the team rather than 3 or 4 changes every week. They played well so they should keep their place.
Calleri - Still is a player that needs to earn the right to play. Maybe next year for him...
I think the worst we will get is a draw.

Kouyate has scored some vital goals for us, I personally would not drop him.

not the greatest place for away pubs, always ended up drinking in the harvester opposite the ground itself.Row X wrote:Never been to Stoke before, for some strange reason... My train is getting in just before 11, what are the best places to head to?

The Terrace Bar on Leek Road. Off Licence on the corner if you can't get served at the bar quickly and around 2pm buses turn up to take you to the ground (£3 return)Row X wrote:Never been to Stoke before, for some strange reason... Re: Stoke City vs West Ham Utd match thread
The issue with a Noble Nordtveit combo is neither of them are particularly quick or strong. Which is why a player like Kouyate or Obiang makes for a better foil. I think a Nordtveit Obiang combo could work well. Wouldn't want to drop Noble but if Nordtveit performs well he deserves to keep his place.

I said "vital goals." I made no reference to season, competition or number of goals. My opinion is that he scored the most important goal this season. Now your definition of a "vital goal" may be different to mine which is normal as it is a subjective opinion but playing the stat game when it is clear you didn't read what I posted properly adds nothing of value.
Re: Stoke City vs West Ham Utd match thread
I'd keep the same team as Everton but maybe change Fernandes to Byram as i'd like to see how he would do as a winger like he was for leeds

similar, but move Fernandes inside next to nord.Lostcoco wrote:I'd keep the same team as Everton but maybe change Fernandes to Byram as i'd like to see how he would do as a winger like he was for leeds
though that instance every player would be playing in their natural best position and it may open the seventh seal to armageddon.
Re: Stoke City vs West Ham Utd match thread
Not sure Byram deserves a start, but if he does start and we are playing three at the back, then I would like to see Fernandes slot need to Nord. in a central position and see if Fernandes can be 'that' partner for Lanzini. Someone that can link our midfield to our attack.
I'll be most interested in finding out how the triangle of Lanzini, Fernandes and Masuaku will work out going into next season.

Re: Stoke City vs West Ham Utd match thread
I get what you're saying but I also understand others' reservations. I think the old addage 'it's best to finish the game with your best team on the pitch' will apply at Stoke and, to that end, I would bring Wiley on from the bench to add more stamina in the second halfI said "vital goals."
